Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcel Tower (ranked 5651 p4p, 4989 weight class) and Fezzik Montoya (ranked 573 p4p, 543 weight class). Montoya has chosen The Other thing as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fezzik Montoya!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Tower misses the target.
Montoya takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Montoya uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Tower has time to react.
Montoya misses with a lunging right hand
and Tower counters with a lovely shot to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Montoya has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Tower displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Montoya throws out the jab.

It looked like Tower wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Tower moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

and Tower counters with a head kick that drops Montoya to the mat! Montoya scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Montoya throws a lazy uppercut
and Tower counters with a huge right that knocks Montoya out cold! Tower is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

McIntosh drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Horo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McIntosh counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Horo lands with a good body shot.
McIntosh avoids the body shot from Horo.
McIntosh is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A little jabbing left from Horo on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Horo shoots for a takedown but McIntosh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dan Horo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McIntosh fails to land the takedown.
McIntosh slips under a jab from Horo.
McIntosh looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McIntosh sets himself, and Horo steps forward looking for the clinch! McIntosh avoids it this time.
Horo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Horo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McIntosh.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McIntosh is positioning himself well to prevent Horo advancing to mount.
McIntosh wants to control but Horo is keeping busy.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Horo tries for a takedown but McIntosh sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McIntosh tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Horo defends well and McIntosh ends up having to push Horo into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Horo is pressed up against the cage. McIntosh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Horo down to the mat. Horo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Horo cracks McIntosh on the jaw with a powerful right hand and McIntosh falls backwards against the cage. Horo follows up with more strikes that drop McIntosh to his knees. Horo keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save McIntosh! This one is all over!

Toyota misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sharpen feinted with a counter takedown.
Toyota shoots in and drives through. Sharpen sprawls well.
Masaki Toyota seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sharpen swats away the attempt to clinch by Toyota.

and Sharpen counters with a shoot takedown. Toyota fights it but they end up in guard.
Sharpen scoring with some ground and pound.

Sharpen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sharpen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sharpen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sharpen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Toyota really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sharpen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sharpen drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sharpen seems to have locked his on tight now - Toyota screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sharpen, as he picks up the win!

Serra fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sub is looking to counter the offense by Serra and move into the clinch.
Sub closes the distance and clinches up with Serra, looking for a takedown. Sub pushes Serra against the cage but Serra circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Sub with that takedown attempt.
Serra with the counter takedown but Sub avoids it easily.
Jack Serra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Serra shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sub as he jumps to the side.
Sub looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Serra looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dave Sub has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Serra.

Serra dives in and grabs Sub's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sub pushes down on Serra's head and hops out.
Serra shoots for a double leg takedown but Sub sprawls well. He's pushed Serra's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Serra closes the distance and clinches up with Sub, looking for a takedown. Serra pushes Sub against the cage but Sub circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Sub wants to pass the guard but Serra is keeping the position.

Sub is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sub drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Serra manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sub has Serra in his guard.


Serra is posturing up here but Sub has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Serra tries to roll out but it's too tight and Serra has to tap! Slick submission there by Sub!
