Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Dinapoli throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Whymer takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Dinapoli scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Dinapoli blocks a leg kick.
A little jabbing left from Dinapoli on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Whymer ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Whymer swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leifsson misses with a body punch
and Steve cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Leifsson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Steve lands a body punch in the clinch.
Steve struggles to land a body shot inside as Leifsson controls his hands.
Leifsson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Steve backwards.

Steve's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Steve swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Leifsson.

and Steve counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Steve throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Leifsson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Leifsson tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Steve manages to circle out of the way.

Leifsson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Leifsson lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Steve goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A left hand lands to the body for Leifsson.

Leifsson gets through Steve's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Steve swings wildly with an uppercut but Leifsson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Leifsson is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Steve's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Leifsson can't find room to land a body shot as Steve controls the action.

Leifsson tries to work over Steve's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Our sources have told us that Leifsson has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Steve lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Leifsson is breathing heavily.
Steve tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Steve has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Leifsson seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Steve can turn it around.
Steve gets through Leifsson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
A left hand lands to the body for Steve.

Steve breaks the clinch.
Steve lands a really nice looking cross but Leifsson seems unphased.
Leifsson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yago Steve dominated that round.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Steve feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Leifsson sprawling to the canvas! Leifsson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Steve finish him?!

and Leifsson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Steve throws a front kick that sends Leifsson stumbling back into the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Leifsson throws a hook to the side of Steve's head but Steve sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A nice side step and Steve releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Leifsson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Leifsson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Steve swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Steve throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Leifsson on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Steve drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Leifsson right on the button. Leifsson goes down! Steve follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Steve gets the win via TKO!

In his post fight interview, Yago Steve started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
