Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcos De Lima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aljamain Sterling! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sterling takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Sterling tries for a takedown but De Lima sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Sterling looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? De Lima is fending him off so far but Sterling persists. Nope, De Lima circles away and we're back to standing. Sterling stuns De Lima with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Sterling has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. De Lima uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sterling has time to react. Aljamain Sterling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sterling wants to clinch. Sterling ducks under a wild hook from De Lima. De Lima tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sterling throws a head kick but De Lima moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Sterling with that takedown attempt. De Lima swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. That's going to sap some energy. Sterling slips a straight right by De Lima. Sterling uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by De Lima.

He's got hold of a leg but De Lima swivels and escapes. De Lima misses with a hook. De Lima displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sterling. De Lima throws an overhand right that lands on Sterling's shoulder, as Sterling tries to avoid the shot. Sterling is trying hard to land a takedown here. De Lima sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. As Sterling tries to get set, De Lima tries to push him back and clinch up but Sterling manages to avoid the attempt. This has been an exciting period of action! De Lima thows a left - swing and a miss! De Lima cracks Sterling with a good jab.

De Lima manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sterling ducks under a wild hook from De Lima. De Lima misses with a series of wild punches.
Sterling uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from De Lima. A looping hook to the body misses from De Lima. Sterling does a little dance to reset his feet. Sterling shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. De Lima defends it nicely. Sterling changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De Lima tries to avoid it but Sterling manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De Lima to the ground. De Lima escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's four minutes gone in the round. Sterling tries to score a power double leg takedown but De Lima sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sterling somewhat. Sterling looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Sterling trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. De Lima knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sterling on the ground. Sterling stopping the sweep attempt from De Lima. De Lima is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Reach Around that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Sterling cracks De Lima with a solid left hand. Sterling has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. De Lima wants to stand and escape but Sterling is having none of it. Sterling won't allow De Lima to sweep him here. De Lima utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Marcos De Lima dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Sterling is trying hard to land a takedown here. De Lima sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from De Lima. De Lima leaves Sterling with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Horrible takedown attempt by Sterling or perhaps it was just good defense by De Lima, which made it look bad. Marcos De Lima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aljamain Sterling. De Lima throws a shot from downtown. Sterling moves away and avoids it. De Lima manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sterling on his heels. He'll look to pass Sterling's guard now, I'm sure. De Lima postures up.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. De Lima doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sterling is tightening it up a little... De Lima has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! De Lima reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! De Lima taps out! Nice BJJ there by Sterling!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cartwright misses with a takedown attempt and Hand counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cartwright doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hand counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Hand thows a left - swing and a miss! Cartwright gets a double leg takedown into Hand's guard. Cartwright throws a big right hand that misses. Cartwright throws a big right hand that misses. Cartwright working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cartwright throws an elbow that misses. Hand uses the momentum to reverse the position. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Caetano punishes Venegas 's body with a nice straight punch. Caetano throws a body shot but no joy. Venegas shoots in for a double leg but Caetano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A nice leg kick lands there from Caetano. Caetano throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Caetano lands with a thumping leg kick.
Venegas gets a clinch. Caetano tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Venegas effectively controlling the action here. Caetano prevents the takedown attempt.

No, Caetano has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Railio throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Honkanen sees it coming and avoids it easily. Honkanen misses with a lunging right hand
and Honkanen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. It looks like Jani Honkanen has been cut. Jani Honkanen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Railio takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

This has been an exciting period of action! Ahola tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Frank was well out of range. Poor timing from Ahola. It looked like Frank wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Ahola scores with a punch to the head. Frank blocks a jab. Ahola doesn't manage to clinch there - Frank circles away.
Ahola is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Frank had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. Ahola connects with a body shot. Ahola has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Ahola fails in his attempt to clinch.

Frank bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Ahola connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Ahola cracks Frank with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Sloppy strikes from Ahola. Those never looked like landing. Frank tries to counter by clinching up but Ahola breaks away and moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frank on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Ahola scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. A looping hook to the body misses from Ahola. Frank does a little dance to reset his feet. Frank tries to counter by clinching up but Ahola breaks away and moves out of range. Ahola pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Frank was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Ahola throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Frank stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ahola scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Frank takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Frank shoots in but no luck this time. Ahola lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Frank closes the distance and clinches up with Ahola, looking for a takedown. Frank pushes Ahola against the cage but Ahola circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ahola scores with a hook to the body. Frank takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ahola thuds his right hand into Frank's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Nice shot lands for Ahola. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ahola with a nice cross. Ahola throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Frank stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Ahola fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ahola. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Ahola lands with a straight right. Frank didn't see that one coming.

Home tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Our sources have told us that Vargas has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Home lands a body shot. Vargas unloads a knee to the mid-section. Home lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Home misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Home's coach down at London MMA Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Home's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Vargas goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Vargas because Home was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva with a poor takedown and Quama counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Quama sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat. Silva goes for a double leg but Quama avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Quama continues to drive forward. Kiase Quama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson Silva. Quama scores with a hook to the body. Silva takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Silva looks winded! Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice shot by Quama. Silva takes one to the chin there. It looks like Jackson Silva has been cut. Quama circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Silva to the canvas! Silva doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Quama keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Tartakov half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Fedetenko throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tartakov closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Tartakov connects with a leg kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tartakov attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Fedetenko is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Tartakov with a body shot. Fedetenko throws a big shot that misses. Fedetenko checks a leg kick nicely. Fedetenko displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tartakov. Fedetenko connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Tartakov out cold! This one is over in a flash!

and Finlayson counters with a straight right hand. Finlayson throws out a loose jab but Veainu uses good head movement to avoid it. Veainu takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
We've been informed that Veainu has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Veainu displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Finlayson throws out the jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Finlayson scores with a nice head shot. Finlayson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Veainu now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Finlayson avoids the body shot from Veainu.

and Finlayson counters with a nice right hand that sends Veainu toppling to the canvas! Veainu scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Finlayson finish him?! Veainu looks to score with a jab to the body but Finlayson is just out of range. Finlayson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Veainu moves out of range as Finlayson strikes. Veainu misses with a hook to the body

and Veainu counters with a straight right hand. Veainu swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Finlayson. Finlayson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Veainu at a distance.

He thinks about going to the ground but Veainu looks back up at him and smiles so Finlayson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Veainu is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Veainu is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Finlayson doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Veainu crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Veainu's bad books for that mishap!
