These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sonny Barella! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Riggins! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Riggins swats away the attempt to clinch by Barella. Barella moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Barella closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Barella trying to control the position but Riggins is working away. Riggins is looking to regain half guard here but Barella keeps moving and retains side control. Riggins manages to get back to half guard. Barella is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Barella takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Barella is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Riggins has managed to free his arm - good work. Barella seems to be looking for submissions.

Santana shoots in but no luck this time. Gretel throws a big shot that misses. Gretel lands an overhand right. Santana looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Santana throws a right and a left that both miss. Gretel's corner calls for a 1-2. Koefti takes a knee to the side of the body. Scarborough throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Koeftis head. A short left from Scarborough. Koefti creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Scarborough's defenses. Koefti tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Scarborough avoids it. Scarborough tries a body shot but Koefti blocks it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. With the fighters up against the cage, Koefti throws an elbow but misses. I was talking to Koefti's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Scarborough throws a head punch that misses.

Suarez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Suarez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Suarez shoots in but no luck this time. Suarez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Meine. Suarez getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Suarez shoots in for a takedown but Meine shows good takedown defense. Meine wants to counter the offense by Suarez and move into the clinch position. Meine misses with a body kick.
