Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Caius Marius (ranked 903 p4p, 697 weight class) and Ruslan Beznisko (ranked 122 p4p, 90 weight class). Beznisko has chosen JANE AIR — Junk as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Caius Marius! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruslan Beznisko! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Marius throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A big right from Marius misses. Beznisko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Marius connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Beznisko shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Marius is trying to defend but Beznisko finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Beznisko wants to free his trapped foot but Marius is holding on for dear life with his legs. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marius keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Beznisko wants to pass the guard but Marius is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beznisko wants to take a breather but Marius is having none of it. Marius avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Beznisko. Marius is not content to let Beznisko control the position. Beznisko is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Beznisko is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Marius's coaches at GWad's Playpen have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Beznisko wants to control but Marius is keeping him busy. Beznisko is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Marius is not content to let Beznisko control the position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Marius is controlling Beznisko's trapped leg to prevent Beznisko from advancing to side control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Marius tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beznisko was well out of range. Poor timing from Marius.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. A slow jab from Marius misses its intended target. Beznisko shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marius as he avoids it easily. Beznisko dives in and grabs Marius's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marius pushes down on Beznisko's head and hops out. Caius Marius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruslan Beznisko. Beznisko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Marius counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Beznisko doesn't succeed with the takedown and Marius counters with a lovely straight right hand! Marius lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Marius misses the jab. Marius tries to sprawl but Beznisko drives through with a takedown into half guard. Beznisko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Marius defends it well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ruslan Beznisko will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! Beznisko with a lazy takedown attempt and Marius counters with a nice uppercut. Marius throws an overhand right that lands on Beznisko's shoulder, as Beznisko tries to avoid the shot. Marius misses with a few strikes there.
Beznisko ducks right into an uppercut from Marius. Beznisko is rocked! Beznisko misses with a shot to the body and Marius counters with a huge left! Beznisko is in big trouble! He's backing up but Marius isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Beznisko from any more damage. A dominating finish by Marius!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Caius Marius! Caius Marius retains his welterweight title!
