Carlos throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Valente's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Carlos dives in looking to finish as Valente flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Carlos's strikes! Carlos is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Valente's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Valente was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Naoki Kitano!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horn tries to clinch there but Kitano circles away.
Kitano let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Horn looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Horn moves out of range as Kitano strikes.

Horn gets a takedown into half guard.
Horn stops Kitano from getting back to his feet.
Kitano is not content to let Horn control the position.
Kitano wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kitano wants to stand back up but Horn manages to pass into side control.
Kitano is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Horn asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Horn tries for a kimura but Kitano is defending well.

Kitano pushes Horn away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Horn gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Horn decides to stand back up. Horn steps back and let's Kitano get back to his feet.
Horn shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kitano counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Horn darts in trying to clinch
and Kitano cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Horn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kitano but Kitano pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kitano unleashes a big counter combination but Horn bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Horn fails to land the takedown.
Kitano throws out a counter right but Horn avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alden Horn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Kitano just misses with a punch to the body.
Horn closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Kitano counter with a right hand.

Horn dives in and grabs Kitano's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kitano pushes down on Horn's head and hops out.

Kitano throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Kitano counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Werewolf Night (ranked 416 p4p, 1839 weight class) and Yngve Laake (ranked 26 p4p, 77 weight class). Night comes to the cage accompanied by Mother- Danzig. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Night misses with a straight right.
Night moves out of range of the strikes.
Night was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A solid leg kick lands there for Laake.
Night pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A big left from Night misses.
Laake throws out a counter right but Night avoids it with no problem.
Night uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Laake.
Laake has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Night finds it's way round the side to connect with Laake's head.
It looks like Yngve Laake has been cut.
Laake throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Night looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Laake defending well as Night loads up on a big left hand.
Laake looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Night drops Laake with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Laake looks back up at him and smiles so Night waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Laake misses with a few strikes there.
Night walks into a left hand.
It looks like Werewolf Night has been cut.
Night throws the left hand but Laake avoids the punch easily.
Laake keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Night throws a body shot but no joy.
Laake throws a quick inside leg kick.
Night loads up on a big right hand but Laake slips the punch.
That kick from Laake tenderised Night's leg. Night is trying to keep his angry face on.
Laake comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Laake lands a jab to Night's midsection.

Night slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Night on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Night is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Laake connects with a good right hand that stumbles Night. Night circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Night misses with an uppercut. Laake saw that one coming.
Laake swings for the body but Night moves out of range.
Laake throws the kick towards the body but Night avoids it.
Laake throws a jab when Night was well out of range.

Night lands a big uppercut and Laake crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Laake looks OK. Night waves Laake back to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Night fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Laake. That snapped Night's head back.
Werewolf Night's cut is getting worse.
Night throws a hook but Laake blocks it.
Night waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Laake.
Both fighters circling a little - Laake finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Laake drops Night with a beautiful combination! Night stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Laake is looking for the KO!

Laake is looking to slow Night down with leg kicks.
Night steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Laake.

Laake lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Night slips under a jab.

Some wild striking there from Night.
Night is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Night is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Laake lands a jab to Night's midsection.
Night connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Laake momentarily.
Night misses with a hook. Laake ducked under it nicely.
Laake has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Laake's corner calls for a 1-2. Laake obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Laake uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Night.
Laake unleashes a big counter combination but Night bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Oooooh!!! Laake has knocked Night down with a huge combo! Laake steps away and waves a wobbly Night back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Oh Night is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Night missing with a left hand there. Laake was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Laake! But no joy.
Laake cracks a nice hook into Night's ribs.
Laake ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Night out cold! The fight is over!

After winning the bout, Yngve Laake thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
