The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Newton backs up against the cage.
Banner defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Newton.

Newton has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Banner.
Newton on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Banner lands with a hook. Newton tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Newton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Banner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Banner is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Doom\'s Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
