Illir tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kaburagi defends well and Illir ends up having to push Kaburagi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Illir is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kaburagi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Illir to the mat. Illir regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've been hearing good reports from Illir's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kaburagi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Kaburagi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
