The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Da Prince lands with a nice body kick. Da Prince fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Frye is out of range. Frye looks to throw the jab but Da Prince is out of range. Frye tries to work over Da Prince's front leg with a kick but Da Prince checks it. Da Prince dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Da Prince moves out of range as Frye strikes. Frye throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Da Prince counters with a nice uppercut. Frye throws a jab when Da Prince was well out of range. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rank takes a kick to the side of the head. Rank fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sutherland avoids it really well and circles away. Sutherland shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rank as he avoids it easily. Rank changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Laddy Sutherland seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice body kick there by Sutherland. Sutherland scores with a spinning back kick! Rank fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sutherland sprawls well initially but Rank persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Sutherland kicks off Rank and gets to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rank crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sutherland - the referee stops the clock and Rank gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sutherland. Rank manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Rank takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Laddy Sutherland dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ftank Rank's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Rank with a poor takedown and Sutherland counters with an outside leg kick.

That'll leave a bruise. Rank takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Sutherland has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sutherland, as that shot connected.

Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. McCurtney breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West scores with a punch to the head. A slow jab from West misses its intended target. An attempted straight right counter from Fry misses the target. Fry scores with a nice head shot. Fry jabbing away but nothing is landing. West throws a jab when Fry was well out of range. Fry swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Fry looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Fry just misses with a punch to the body.

West moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. West throws a leg kick and Fry makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Fry ducks under a wild hook from West. The fighters circling - West throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A big right from West misses. West misses with an uppercut. Fry saw that one coming. As West backs away, Fry returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. West bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Fry's head. West takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. West will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Sweet fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Burian, pushing him back against the cage. Burian throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Sweets head. Gurnisson is trying to get an arm triangle but Arai is defending well. Gurnisson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Arai, who protects the arm well. Arai is not content to let Gurnisson control the position.

I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Charles Smith was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joao Miyao! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Smith! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith thuds a left hand into Miyao's body. Smith has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Miyao feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Smith controls Miyao momentarily but Miyao frees himself. Miyao is pushing down on Smith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Smith is fighting to maintain full guard but Miyao has managed to sneak the leg through. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith is trying to stand.
Smith is looking for a sweep. Miyao is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Miyao seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smith does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Miyao seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Smith is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
