Nha lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Nha fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Som manages to avoid it. Som unleashes a big counter combination but Nha bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Som scores with a crisp jab that stopped Nha in his tracks. Nha swings and misses with a hook to the body.

We've been told by Nha's head coaches at The Aquarium that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Som swinging wildly here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nha fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Som is still on wobbly legs! Can Nha finish him? Nha tries to close the distance and clinch up but Som swats him away and circles back towards the center. Som seems to have recovered his senses. Nha looks to score with a jab to the body but Som is just out of range. Som throws out a counter right but Nha avoids it with no problem. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nha throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Som counters with a left and a right that stings Nha. Som takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. The crowd cheers as Nha lands an impressive looking overhand right. Som doesn't seem phased though. Som avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nha throws a body punch but Som moves out of range. Nha drops Som with a naaaaasty hook - Som is in real trouble here! Nha dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cody Shelton! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Michigan! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shelton lands a head shot. Michigan takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Shelton definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Shelton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Michigan moves away. Shelton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shelton just misses with a punch to the body.
Shelton connects with a crisp jab. Michigan throws an off balance right hand
enabling Shelton to counter with a crisp jab. Michigan misses with a hook. It looked like Shelton was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Michigan. Shelton lands a glancing blow to the side of Michigan's head. Shelton throws out a loose jab but Michigan uses good head movement to avoid it. Michigan moves out of range of the strikes. Shelton lands a lovely overhand right. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Michigan throws an off balance right hand
and Shelton counters with a nice uppercut. Shelton jabs Michigan right on the nose. Michigan blinks but takes it well. A shot to the body from Michigan misses and Shelton counters with a lovely straight right hand! Michigan is rocked! Michigan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Cody Shelton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shelton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shelton misses with a hook. Michigan ducked under it nicely. Michigan tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. The crowd cheers as Shelton lands an impressive looking overhand right. Michigan doesn't seem phased though. Shelton is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Shelton throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Michigan on the side of the head. Michigan throws a jab when Shelton was well out of range. Shelton is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Shelton takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Shelton waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Michigan. Michigan avoids the body shot from Shelton.

and Shelton connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Michigan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shelton circles away. Shelton is looking to counter punch. Shelton lands with a cross. A left lands for Michigan. Shelton avoids the body shot from Michigan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Michigan swings and misses with a shot to the body and Shelton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Michigan cracks Shelton with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Bob Michigan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Michigan scores with a jab to the body. Shelton throws a big shot that misses. Shelton sets himself, and Michigan steps forward looking for the clinch! Shelton avoids it this time. Michigan walks into a jab. Michigan throws a hook but Shelton avoids it easily. Shelton lands with a shot to the body. Michigan takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Shelton moves out of range of the strikes. Michigan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Michigan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shelton. Shelton feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Michigan sprawling to the canvas! Michigan rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Shelton finish him?!
Michigan is still on wobbly legs! Can Shelton finish him? Shelton is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Shelton connects with a body shot. Michigan moves away from the strike by Shelton. Michigan gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Shelton gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Shelton! Cody Shelton retains his lightweight title! Cody Shelton spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
