With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viktor Mertel Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lane White! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White sizes up Mertel Jr with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. White swings for the body but Mertel Jr moves out of range.
Mertel Jr stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. White misses with a right hand and Mertel Jr cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've been told by Mertel Jr's head coaches at RETARDATION CLINIC that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. White lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. White fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. A thudding body kick lands there by Mertel Jr!

White ducks under a wild hook from Mertel Jr. White lands with a right hand. Mertel Jr needs to keep his hands up - White had a free shot at his head there. White throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mertel Jr counters with a stiff right hand. Mertel Jr is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. White swings for the body but Mertel Jr moves out of range.

White throws an ugly left hook that misses

White seems to have recovered his senses. White connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. White swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mertel Jr counters with a big right hand! Oh White is in trouble here! Mertel Jr follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Off looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Off is looking to advance position but Smith has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Smith putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Off. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Off's face.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Off is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. We've been hearing good reports from Off's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Smith working for a guillotine from mount but Off is in no mood to give up. Off wants to control but Smith is having none of it. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith prevents Off from getting the reversal. Off is working hard here to advance position. Smith in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Off is in a horrible position here. Smith smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Smith avoids the attempt from Off to control. Smith unloading with bombs! Off takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Smith's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Martelo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hoo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Martelo advances nicely into full mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hoo tries to hold on but Martelo pushes him away. Martelo landing punches.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoo is trying desperately to improve position. Martelo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hoo is looking to escape. Martelo raining down hammerfists from mount. Hoo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hoo wants to hold on but Martelo pushes him away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Martelo swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Martelo swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hoo. Hoo lands a really nice looking cross but Martelo seems unphased.
Martelo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hoo as he avoids it easily. Martelo has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Hoo looks to land a left hand but Martelo moved out of range nicely. Hoo jabs at Martelo's body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice uppercut there from Martelo. Hoo misses with an uppercut. Martelo saw that one coming. Martelo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoo was well out of range. Poor timing from Martelo.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hoo stuffs the takedown attempt from Martelo. Martelo gets slowly back to his feet. Hoo connects with a nice looking jab.
It looks like Tiago Martelo has been cut. Martelo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hoo. Martelo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hoo.
Martelo ducks under a wild hook from Hoo. Martelo scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Martelo lands a jab to Hoo's midsection.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hoo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wa Hoo is winning the standup battle so far. Martelo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoo was well out of range. Poor timing from Martelo. Wa Hoo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Martelo tries to move into range but Hoo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Martelo scores with a shot to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A looping hook to the body misses from Hoo. Martelo does a little dance to reset his feet. Martelo thuds his right hand into Hoo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Hoo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Martelo was well out of range. Poor timing from Hoo. Martelo with the counter takedown but Hoo avoids it easily.
Martelo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoo misses with an elbow from the bottom. Hoo is not content to let Martelo control the position. Hoo is trying to work for a sweep but Martelo has mounted him!
Hoo tries to improve his position but Martelo has taken his back! Martelo has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Hoo tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Martelo pushes Hoo away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Miklos Magyar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Matyas Magyar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Miklos Magyar with a flurry of punches that miss.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maluga connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. We've been hearing reports that Archer has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. A solid leg kick lands there for Maluga.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Leonard Norton. Well Norton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
