These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson takes a swing at TwentyTwo's ribcage but misses.
TwentyTwo slips a jab and a cross from Watson.

Watson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

TwentyTwo catches Watson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Watson shoots in and bounces TwentyTwo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
TwentyTwo wants to hit a sweep here but Watson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for TwentyTwo there!
TwentyTwo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Watson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

TwentyTwo is looking to improve his position but Watson isn't that keen on the idea.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

TwentyTwo misses with a body shot.
Watson tries a head kick but it misses.
TwentyTwo was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
TwentyTwo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Watson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
TwentyTwo takes a swing at Watson's ribcage but misses.
King Watson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
TwentyTwo misses the shot to the body.

TwentyTwo tries to sprawl but Watson drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Watson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Watson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
TwentyTwo is looking to wear down Watson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Watson stuns TwentyTwo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
TwentyTwo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Watson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Watson is continuing to stall.
King Watson has got the better of the ground game so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The adventures of Watson the control monster continue. Boring.
TwentyTwo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Watson is one step ahead there.

Watson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
TwentyTwo looks to move to half guard but instead Watson has passed into mount! Damn!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

TwentyTwo throws a lazy right hand but Watson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Watson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Watson is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

King Watson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Watson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Watson decides to stand and escape the position.
TwentyTwo misses with a straight right.
TwentyTwo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Watson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
No joy there for TwentyTwo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Watson is clearly trying to counter these attacks from TwentyTwo with a body shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
