Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Rodrigues (ranked 280 p4p, 43 weight class) and Lukas Chomsli (ranked 307 p4p, 47 weight class). Chomsli has chosen Tapout as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Samuel Rodrigues!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lukas Chomsli!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chomsli shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Chomsli trying to control from half guard but Rodrigues is working away.
Rodrigues makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rodrigues.

Rodrigues working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chomsli doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chomsli manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rodrigues escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chomsli gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rodrigues is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chomsli defends well.

Chomsli is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rodrigues is just riding it out for now. Chomsli eventually gives up the hold.

Chomsli is keen to just control but Rodrigues is a slippery customer.
Rodrigues looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chomsli looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rodrigues with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Chomsli working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Chomsli must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Chomsli is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Rodrigues has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Chomsli is looking to defend but Rodrigues has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Chomsli! Rodrigues pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Chomsli taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Samuel Rodrigues!
In his post fight interview, Samuel Rodrigues started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
