Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pony Pony (ranked 355 p4p, 626 weight class) and Hellas Pankratios (ranked 17 p4p, 32 weight class). Pony Pony could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hellas Pankratios's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 30 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pony Pony! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hellas Pankratios! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.

Pankratios is looking to control Pony's arms but Pony gets an underhook and turns him. Now Pankratios has his back to the cage. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Pankratios. Pony misses with a knee strike.
I was talking to Pony's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. A short left from Pony. Pankratios will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Pony up against the cage. Pankratios fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Pankratios ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pankratios no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Pony slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Pankratios. Pony prevents Pankratios from improving his position. Pony will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Pankratios is pressing down on Pony's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Pankratios is controlling Pony's posture. Pony would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pankratios looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pony is one step ahead there. Pony avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Pankratios shoots for a double leg takedown but Pony sprawls well. He's pushed Pankratios's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Pankratios throws a leg kick and Pony counters with a nice uppercut. Pankratios closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pankratios working the ground and pound. Pankratios wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pony keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pankratios has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pony is trying to get back to half guard. Pony knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pankratios on the ground. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Pankratios swings around for an armbar but Pony sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pankratios's guard. Pankratios trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Pankratios wants to sweep here but Pony controlling him for the moment. Pankratios looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Pony puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Pankratios is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pankratios makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pankratios. Pankratios manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pony manages to get himself to full guard.
Pony looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Pankratios with a flurry of punches that miss. Pankratios throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pony works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pony utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Pankratios working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Pankratios stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pony swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pankratios lands a couple of elbows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Hellas Pankratios will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Pankratios is looking to clinch but Pony is avoiding it.

Pony digs a right hand underneath Pankratios's ribcage. Pankratios let out a lung full of air as it connected. Pony pushes Pankratios back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Pony working Pankratios over with knees to the body. Pony with a knee to the head.

Pankratios blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Pony with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Pankratios has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pony avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Pony Pony has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hellas Pankratios.

Pony circles away from the clinch attempt and Pony counters with a leg kick. Pankratios shoots in for a takedown but Pony shows good takedown defense. Pankratios misses with a takedown and Pony counters with a nice uppercut. Pankratios darts in looking for a takedown but Pony gets double underhooks and turns Pankratios into the cage. Pony went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pankratios darts in trying to clinch and Pony connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Pankratios tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Pony scores with a counter punch that sends Pankratios to the canvas! Pony smells blood - he's punishing Pankratios with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Pankratios has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pony Pony! A relieved looking Pony Pony thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
