Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Johnson (ranked 2366 p4p, 65 weight class) and Chiku Maneno (ranked 1448 p4p, 36 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by On March The Saints. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 48 - 33 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chiku Maneno!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maneno swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Maneno counters with a stiff right hand.

Johnson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Maneno's half guard.
Maneno wants to stand back up but Johnson manages to pass into side control.
Maneno wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Maneno felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Maneno is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Johnson is controlling him well.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Maneno wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it.

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Maneno wants to get back to his feet.

Johnson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Johnson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Maneno manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maneno throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Maneno stuffs the takedown.
Maneno just misses with a punch to the body.
A jab lands there for Maneno.

Johnson slips under a jab from Maneno.

Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maneno was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Maneno pushes Johnson off and scrambles back to his feet.
Maneno throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Maneno throws a jab when Johnson was well out of range.
Johnson is looking to counter punch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Maneno enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maneno manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Maneno wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Maneno is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Maneno is looking to stand back up but Johnson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Maneno.
Still in half guard, Johnson seems content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maneno wants to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Maneno loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch.
Johnson half committed to a counter leg kick.
Johnson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maneno circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maneno misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Johnson.

Johnson goes for a double leg but Maneno avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Maneno continues to drive forward.

and Johnson counters with a slapping leg kick.

Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Maneno fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Maneno throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Maneno throws a hook to the side of Johnson's head but Johnson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Johnson is controlling the pace.
Maneno is trying to stand up here but Johnson is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chiku Maneno showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Maneno has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Johnson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson dives in and grabs Maneno's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maneno pushes down on Johnson's head and hops out.

Johnson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Maneno misses the shot to the body.
Johnson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Maneno.

Chiku Maneno is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Maneno stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

Maneno just misses with a punch to the body.
Maneno looks to score with a jab to the body but Johnson is just out of range.
Nick Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

As Maneno backs away, Johnson returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I think Maneno has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
