Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kribb Furgesson (ranked 1310 p4p, 1201 weight class) and Julius Turunen (ranked 156 p4p, 147 weight class). Kribb Furgesson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Julius Turunen's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kribb Furgesson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Julius Turunen! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turunen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Furgesson pinned against the cage. Furgesson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've been told by Furgesson's head coaches at Kribbson's MMA Garage that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Turunen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Furgesson misses with a wild body shot. Turunen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Turunen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Furgesson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Turunen is figuring out what he wants to do next. Turunen missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Turunen is looking to take a break and control but Furgesson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Furgesson taking some punishment here, with Turunen in his half guard. Turunen is nestled in close to Furgesson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Turunen is looking to advance position but Furgesson won't allow it. Turunen thows a huge punch but Furgesson dodges it nicely.

Not this time. Furgesson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Furgesson is staying active underneath Turunen, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Turunen controlling the pace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Furgesson has a hand on Turunen's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Turunen takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Turunen dominating with strikes here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Turunen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Furgesson counter with a right hand. Turunen shoots in and gets a takedown into Furgesson's guard. Turunen has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Furgesson controls Turunen momentarily but Turunen frees himself. Turunen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Turunen working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Turunen trying to control but Furgesson is working from the bottom. Turunen scoring with punches to the head and body. Turunen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Turunen is fighting to break Furgesson's control of his arms but Furgesson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Turunen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Turunen lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Turunen scoring with punches to the head and body. Furgesson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turunen trying to control but Furgesson is working from the bottom. Furgesson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Turunen cracks Furgesson with a solid left hand. Turunen connects with a couple of short punches. Furgesson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Turunen is aware though and is defending well. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Turunen working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Furgesson controls Turunen momentarily but Turunen frees himself. Furgesson has momentary wrist control but Turunen slips an elbow through the middle. Turunen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Turunen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Turunen chips away with some ground and pound. Furgesson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Furgesson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Turunen's guard. Turunen doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Turunen lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Furgesson wants to control from the top but Turunen keeps moving. Furgesson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Furgesson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Turunen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Furgesson passes Turunen's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Turunen trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Furgesson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Turunen sees it coming and defends easily. Furgesson prevents Turunen from improving his position. Furgesson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Turunen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Turunen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Furgesson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Turunen works his way to full guard. Good work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julius Turunen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Turunen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Furgesson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Turunen somewhat. Turunen with a poor takedown letting Furgesson counter with a right hand. Turunen scores with a takedown into Furgesson's guard. Turunen is working Furgesson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Furgesson trying to keep a closed guard but Turunen is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Turunen lands a couple of elbows. Furgesson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Furgesson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Turunen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Furgesson is tightening it up a little... Turunen has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Turunen reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Turunen taps out! Nice BJJ there by Furgesson!
