Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roland Weudke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, David Williams! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams dives in and grabs Weudke's left leg, looking for a takedown. Weudke pushes down on Williams's head and hops out. Nice defenses there by Williams. Weudke has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Soul Supremacy Rio in the buildup to the fight. No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt. Weudke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Williams. Weudke swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Roland Weudke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Williams. Williams misses with a takedown attempt and Williams takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Williams gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling Weudke to counter with a crisp jab. Weudke tests Williams's chin there with a solid looking shot. David Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Williams drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Williams tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Williams is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Weudke knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Weudke is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Williams yanks on the arm and Weudke is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Williams.
