PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corey Smith Jr (ranked 375 p4p, 581 weight class) and Dexter Krampus (ranked 61 p4p, 84 weight class). Smith Jr comes to the cage accompanied by You Will Know My Name. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Corey Smith Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dexter Krampus!

Krampus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smith Jr is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Jed's Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Krampus working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Krampus tries to advance to mount but Smith Jr denies him.
Smith Jr tries to improve position but can't.
Krampus wants to control but Smith Jr is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith Jr is trying to buck Krampus off.
Smith Jr is looking to regain half guard here but Krampus keeps moving and retains side control.

Krampus looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Krampus swings around for an armbar but Smith Jr sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Krampus's guard.
Krampus tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Smith Jr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Krampus is proving hard to escape from.

and Smith Jr counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Krampus is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Krampus tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Smith Jr is able to avoid easily.
Smith Jr drops his hands momentarily and Krampus takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Krampus tests Smith Jr's chin there with a solid looking shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Krampus shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Krampus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

It looked like Smith Jr was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Krampus.

Smith Jr was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

It looks like Dexter Krampus has been cut.
Smith Jr needs to keep his hands up - Krampus had a free shot at his head there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Krampus shoots in but Smith Jr avoids the takedown attempt easily.

It seemed like Krampus was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Krampus drops his hands momentarily and Smith Jr takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Krampus sizes up Smith Jr with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Krampus checks a leg kick.
Nice uppercut lands for Smith Jr. That snapped Krampus's head back.

That was a close round but I would say that Corey Smith Jr will probably get the nod.

That has opened up Dexter Krampus's cut even more.
Smith Jr keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Krampus.
Smith Jr closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Smith Jr misses with a straight right.
Krampus lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Krampus pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Smith Jr back to the cage. Krampus follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Krampus lunges at Smith Jr with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Smith Jr's hand.
Krampus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith Jr as he avoids it easily.
Smith Jr looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Krampus dives in and grabs Smith Jr's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith Jr pushes down on Krampus's head and hops out.

Krampus darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Krampus throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Krampus is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Smith Jr has managed to free his arm - good work.
Smith Jr slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Smith Jr is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Krampus is controlling him.
Smith Jr tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Smith Jr does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Krampus is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith Jr sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Smith Jr throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Krampus's head.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Krampus.
Dexter Krampus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith Jr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Krampus.

Smith Jr fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Krampus has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Krampus shoots in and bounces Smith Jr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Krampus has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Mentor Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Krampus drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Krampus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith Jr lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dexter Krampus's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Krampus lands a nice hook to Smith Jr's body. Smith Jr takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
