Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Gaunce (ranked 3678 p4p, 4173 weight class) and Aron Egomi (ranked 371 p4p, 420 weight class). Gaunce's entrance music is Special Ops. A fine choice. Egomi has chosen Hand of doom by Manowar as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aron Egomi!

A decent looking body kick lands there for Gaunce.
Gaunce lands with a nice body punch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gaunce.
Egomi lands with a straight right. Gaunce didn't see that one coming.
Egomi uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

and Egomi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Gaunce moves into range and clinches up with Egomi.
Egomi is trying to drag Gaunce to the mat but Gaunce just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

I was talking to Gaunce's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Gaunce blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Gaunce has Egomi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Egomi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Egomi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gaunce bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gaunce tries to clinch but Egomi is having none of it.
Gaunce throws a leg kick but Egomi sees it coming and moves out of range.
Gaunce misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Egomi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Egomi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gaunce stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It seemed like Egomi was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Aron Egomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Egomi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gaunce wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Gaunce throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gaunce moves away from the strike by Egomi.

Aron Egomi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gaunce doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Egomi counters with a stiff right hand.

Egomi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gaunce momentarily.
Egomi might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Gaunce lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Egomi circles away quickly and effectively.
Gaunce uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Egomi.
Gaunce throws a right and a left that Egomi avoids nicely.

Egomi throws a monster overhand right that drops Gaunce! Egomi follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
