Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Isaac Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastian Kurtz! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kurtz scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Mendez swinging wildly here.
Good exchange - Mendez coming out on top. Isaac Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mendez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kurtz counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mendez is lucky that one didn't land flush. Mendez misses with a takedown and Kurtz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kurtz scores with a jab to the jaw. Kurtz connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mendez's hands. Mendez tries to clinch but Kurtz moves out of range. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kurtz! But no joy. Sebastian Kurtz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kurtz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kurtz let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. A swing and a miss from Mendez. Kurtz was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Mendez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kurtz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mendez is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Mendez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kurtz jabs Mendez right on the nose. Mendez blinks but takes it well.
Mendez is rocked! Mendez throws a lazy head kick and Kurtz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Oh Mendez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Kurtz throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Mendez is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
