Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Billings (ranked 22505 p4p, 3558 weight class) and Kevin Walters (ranked 484 p4p, 347 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Billings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kevin Walters!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Billings throws a leg kick that misses.

Walters closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Billings's guard.
Walters throws a big right hand that misses.
Walters missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Billings tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Billings looking for a guillotine here but Walters defends easily.
Walters is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Billings has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Walters thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Walters looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Billings has momentary wrist control but Walters slips an elbow through the middle.
Walters postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Walters is looking to work some ground and pound but Billings has wrist control.
Walters loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Billings swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Walters postures up and lands a big shot to Billings's brow.
Billings is trying to keep Walters in close.
Walters slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Billings takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Billings is looking for a sweep.
Walters working the body and head with strikes.
Billings is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Walters sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Billings is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Walters lands a nice forearm strike.
Walters cracks Billings with a big right hand but Billings just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walters tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Walters has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walters works to advance to full mount. Billings defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Billings is looking to improve his position but Walters isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Walters looking to finish Billings with some ground and pound. This is bad for Billings!

Billings is rocked!
Walters postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Billings badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Walters around the waist but Walters pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Walters is the winner by TKO! Walters jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin Walters!
