Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Avraam Papadopoulos (ranked 1070 p4p, 1834 weight class) and Jackson Portis (ranked 154 p4p, 252 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Avraam Papadopoulos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackson Portis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papadopoulos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Portis throws a big shot that misses.
Portis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson Portis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Papadopoulos misses with an uppercut
and Portis counters with a nice uppercut.
Papadopoulos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Portis throws a good cross that connects.

It looks like Avraam Papadopoulos has been cut.
Portis scores with a nice strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Papadopoulos throws a body punch but Portis moves out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Portis! But no joy.
Portis takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Papadopoulos takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

A little jabbing left from Portis on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Papadopoulos lands with a hook. Portis tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Papadopoulos throws a lazy right hand but Portis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Papadopoulos throws a body shot but no joy.
A nice side step and Portis releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Portis lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Portis throws a nice looking combination but Papadopoulos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Portis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Papadopoulos.
Portis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Papadopoulos connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Portis momentarily.

Papadopoulos lands a glancing blow to the side of Portis's head.
Papadopoulos moves away from the strike by Portis.

and Papadopoulos counters with a stiff right hand.
Portis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Papadopoulos.
A punch lands to the side of Papadopoulos 's head but he takes it in his stride.

and Papadopoulos counters with a nice uppercut.

Portis walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Portis checks a leg kick nicely.
Portis swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Papadopoulos takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Papadopoulos connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Papadopoulos connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Portis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Portis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Papadopoulos lands a head shot.
Portis misses with a straight right.
Papadopoulos swings for the body but Portis moves out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Avraam Papadopoulos will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Papadopoulos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Portis throws a lazy uppercut
and Portis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Papadopoulos swings and misses with a hook to the body.

It seemed like Portis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Portis counters with a one-two to the body.
Papadopoulos lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Papadopoulos's corner calls for a 1-2. Papadopoulos obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Portis works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Avraam Papadopoulos's cut is getting worse.
Portis throws a looping overhand right but Papadopoulos ducks down to avoid it.
Papadopoulos is looking to counter punch.
Portis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Papadopoulos walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Papadopoulos jabs Portis to the body, keeping him at a distance.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Portis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Portis throws an overhand right that drops Papadopoulos like a sack of potatoes! Portis dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jackson Portis!
