PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Leo Vuce (ranked 1612 p4p, 915 weight class) and Glass Joe (ranked 94 p4p, 53 weight class). Joe has chosen La Marseillaise as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leo Vuce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Glass Joe!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Joe moves into the clinch.
Vuce tries to land knees in the clinch but Joe avoids the damage to the body.
A hook to the body from Joe.
Vuce pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.
A head punch on the inside from Joe fails to land.
Joe dodges an elbow strike from Vuce.
Vuce goes for a takedown attempt but Joe pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Joe. Vuce does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vuce half committed to a counter leg kick.
The crowd cheers as Joe lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vuce doesn't seem phased though.
Joe darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Joe has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vuce takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Vuce looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Vuce keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Joe lands with a good body shot.

Joe thows a left - swing and a miss!
Joe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vuce moves away.
Joe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vuce manages to avoid it.
Vuce was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Joe throws a hook to the side of Vuce's head but Vuce sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Vuce tried to counter with a leg kick but Joe avoided it.
Joe punishes Vuce's body with a nice straight punch.
Joe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vuce swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vuce is looking to counter punch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Joe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Joe looks to throw the jab but Vuce is out of range.
Joe tests Vuce's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A jab from Joe does it's job there.
Vuce really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A looping hook to the body misses from Joe. Vuce does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vuce is looking to counter punch.
Joe throws a lazy right hand but Vuce sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Joe feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Vuces jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joe throws out a loose jab but Vuce uses good head movement to avoid it.
Joe jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Vuce dodges the punch combination from Joe.
Joe misses with a body punch
and Vuce cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Joe sizes up Vuce with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Joe lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Joe gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vuce misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Joe.
Vuce jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Joe walks away with a smile on his face. Vuce gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Joe throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
It looked like Vuce wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Vuce takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Joe swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Vuce.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vuce takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Vuce is rocked!
Vuce gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Joe gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Glass Joe!
Glass Joe took some time post fight to say the following; 'Had a great time doing MMA, but this was my last fight. I'm now retiring to be a full-time boxing coach at the Punch-Out gym.'.
