Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tanaka Matsuda (ranked 238 p4p, 469 weight class) and Winston Todd (ranked 31 p4p, 62 weight class). Matsuda comes to the cage accompanied by Avenged Sevenfold - Hail to the King. Todd has chosen Piano Man as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.

Matsuda scores with a decent looking hook.
Todd looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Matsuda drops down looking for a counter takedown but Todd sprawls and moves away.
No luck for Matsuda with that takedown attempt.
Todd feints a counter leg kick.
Matsuda looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Todd is fending him off so far but Matsuda persists. Nope, Todd circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice straight punches there by Todd. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Todd.
It looks like Tanaka Matsuda has been cut.
Todd scores with a sloppy right hand. Matsuda should have avoided that one.
Todd attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Todd looks to score with a jab to the body but Matsuda is just out of range.

and Todd counters with a low kick, right behind Matsuda 's knee.

Todd throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Matsuda steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Todd. That one must have hurt.
Matsuda misses with a takedown attempt - Todd sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Matsuda walks into a jab.
Matsuda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Todd's waist but Todd gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Matsuda off to one side.
Todd goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Matsuda drops down looking for a counter takedown but Todd sprawls and moves away.
Matsuda shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Todd as he avoids it easily.
Todd fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Todd lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Todd walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Matsuda checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Todd leaves Matsuda with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A looping hook to the body misses from Todd. Matsuda does a little dance to reset his feet.
Todd connects with a right hand. Matsuda shakes it off.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Matsuda takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Todd misses the shot to the body.
Todd lands a nice leg kick that just misses Matsuda's sensitive parts.
Matsuda walks into a jab.
Matsuda shoots for a takedown but Todd saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Matsuda is breathing heavily.
Todd moves out of range as Matsuda strikes.
Todd lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Tanaka Matsuda's cut is getting worse.
Todd dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Matsuda. That did some damage!

Matsuda shoots in for a takedown but Todd shows good takedown defense.
Todd misses the shot to the body.
A jab from Todd does it's job there.
Todd scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Todd connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Todd lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Todd lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Todd scores with a crisp jab that stopped Matsuda in his tracks.
Matsuda is rocked!
Tanaka Matsuda's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Matsuda misses with a takedown attempt - Todd sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Todd closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Matsuda! Todd dives in looking to finish! Matsuda is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Winston Todd!
Winston Todd is the new middleweight champion!
After the fight, Winston Todd was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
