PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jolly Roger (ranked 1895 p4p, 2431 weight class) and Flange McDrippy (ranked 260 p4p, 325 weight class). Roger's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Under Jolly Roger. Flange McDrippy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jolly Roger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Flange McDrippy!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roger throws a series of punches but McDrippy moves out of range.
McDrippy tries to counter with a clinch but Roger shakes him off and moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Roger is defended easily by McDrippy.
McDrippy swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Roger takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Roger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McDrippy as he avoids it easily.
Roger lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McDrippy circles away quickly and effectively.
Roger fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jolly Roger. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and McDrippy counters with a crisp right hand that drops Roger! McDrippy lets Roger back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McDrippy lands a nice hook to Roger's body. Roger takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Roger shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roger showed some decent athleticism there.

Roger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McDrippy is pulling down on Roger's head to control his posture.
We've been informed that McDrippy has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Roger advances position into side control!

Roger is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, McDrippy has escaped the position, nice work there.
McDrippy is letting Roger control him for a moment.

Roger tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Roger in side control lands a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jolly Roger will probably get the nod.
That's time! Roger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Roger won't allow McDrippy to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Roger has his takedown stuffed
and McDrippy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Roger shoots and misses
and McDrippy counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Roger feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jolly Roger decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
