The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimura pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Shimura throws a leg kick but Tua sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Shimura scores with a nice body kick.
Shimura misses with a head kick.
Tua misses the jab.
Shimura swings for the body but Tua moves out of range.
Shimura with a nice calf kick.
Shimura loads up on a big right hand but Tua slips the punch.
Shimura gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Tua counters with a stiff right hand.
Takashi Shimura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tua lands a slapping body shot.
Shimura wants to slow Tua down by chopping away at his legs.

Tua is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shimura.
Tua seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Tua throws a series of punches but Shimura moves out of range.
Tua misses with an uppercut.
Shimura steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Shimura stuns Tua with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Shimura fakes the leg kick and cracks Tua in the body.
Shimura throws a head kick but Tua moves out of range.
Tua is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Shimura has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Shimura throws a nice inside leg kick.

and Tua makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Tua uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shimura.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Shimura takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Takashi Shimura has been cut.
Shimura connects with a single shot there.
Shimura throws a head kick that half lands.

Shimura lands a nice looking body kick.
Tua ducks under a wild hook from Shimura.

Shimura throws a sloppy head kick and Tua moves out of range easily.
A quick step to the side and Tua tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shimura feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tua s jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Tua walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Tua walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and Tua counters with a huge left! Shimura is in big trouble! He's backing up but Tua isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Shimura from any more damage. A dominating finish by Tua !

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Tua !
