Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Herve Cabrera (ranked 1959 p4p, 1788 weight class) and Manuel Cristos (ranked 231 p4p, 211 weight class). Manuel Cristos is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Herve Cabrera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manuel Cristos! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cristos. Cabrera shoots in and bounces Cristos off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Cristos pulls Cabrera in close to prevent any damage. Cristos has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Cabrera is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Cabrera tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cristos smiles and moves away.
A punch combination from Cristos misses. Cabrera connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Cabrera scores with a jab. Cristos acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Cabrera shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cabrera controlling the action here. Cristos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cabrera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cabrera works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cabrera working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Cabrera working for a guillotine from mount but Cristos is in no mood to give up. Cristos is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cristos can do anything to dispel that myth. Cristos wants to control but Cabrera is having none of it. Cristos is looking to get to half guard. Cristos wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Cristos felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Cristos tries to hold on but Cabrera pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cabrera is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cristos can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cristos is looking to improve his position but Cabrera isn't that keen on the idea. Cristos tries to buck Cabrera off but he can't manage it. Cabrera lands a big elbow. Cristos wants to get back to his feet.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cristos defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cabrera. Cabrera trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cristos bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Cristos preventing the sweep. Cabrera is looking for a triangle but Cristos pushes his legs off easily.
Cristos content to stall in guard here. Cabrera manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cristos manages to get himself to full guard.
Cristos can't keep his opponent in guard - Cabrera advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cristos looks like he's trying to stand up.

Herve Cabrera dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Cristos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cabrera finds it's way round the side to connect with Cristos's head. Nice takedown defense from Cabrera. No joy for Cristos on that attempt. Cristos fails with the takedown and Cabrera counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Cristos gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Cabrera counters with a single leg into guard. Cristos didn't expect that. Herve Cabrera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manuel Cristos. Cabrera trying to control but Cristos is working from the bottom. Cabrera with a flurry of punches that miss. Cristos is looking to stand up but Cabrera isn't so interested in that idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cabrera trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cabrera trying to control the position from guard on top but Cristos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cabrera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cabrera pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cristos is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cabrera trying to control but Cristos is working from the bottom. Cabrera is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Cristos is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cabrera is controlling him.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Cristos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cabrera circles away. Cabrera is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Nice shot by Cabrera. Cabrera scores with a nice right hand.
Sloppy strikes from Cabrera. Those never looked like landing. Cristos takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Cabrera cracks Cristos with a right hand to the side of the head. Cristos misses with a wild combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cristos with a lazy takedown attempt and Cabrera counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cabrera throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Manuel Cristos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cabrera slips under a jab from Cristos. Cabrera shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cristos is trying to defend but Cabrera finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Cristos manages to escape and get back to his feet! Cabrera lands with a shot to the body. Cabrera is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. No luck for Cristos with that takedown attempt. Cristos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cabrera is fending him off so far but Cristos persists. Nope, Cabrera circles away and we're back to standing. Cristos is breathing heavily. Cristos has his takedown stuffed and Cabrera counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Cabrera bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cristos's head backwards. Cristos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cabrera connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cristos scrambles back to his feet. Cabrera throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cristos stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Cristos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cabrera as he avoids it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cabrera lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Nice shot by Cabrera. Cabrera stuffs the takedown attempt from Cristos. Cristos gets slowly back to his feet. Cabrera scores with a decent looking hook. Cabrera lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cristos backs up against the cage.
Cristos looks to land a combination but Cabrera avoids it well. Cristos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cabrera as he avoids it easily. Cabrera scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Cristos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cabrera is fending him off so far but Cristos persists. Nope, Cabrera circles away and we're back to standing. Cabrera fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cabrera scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Cabrera connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cristos. Cristos circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Cristos gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Cristos dives in and grabs Cabrera's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cabrera pushes down on Cristos's head and hops out. Cristos with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cabrera to score with a decent uppercut. Cabrera scores with a hook to the body. Cristos takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cabrera lands an overhand right. Cabrera bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Cristos is rocked! Cabrera lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Cristos is still on wobbly legs! Can Cabrera finish him? Cristos misses with a takedown and Cabrera counters with a nice right hand that sends Cristos toppling to the canvas! Cristos scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Cabrera finish him?! Cabrera is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cristos's half guard. Cabrera is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cristos can do to turn this around? Cabrera passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cristos! Cabrera is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cristos is surviving well by controlling Cabrera's body position as best he can. Cabrera looking to finish with strikes here!

Cristos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cabrera connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cristos scrambles back to his feet. Cristos has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Cristos tries for a takedown but Cabrera sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cabrera feinted with a counter takedown. Cristos fails to land the takedown. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cristos. Herve Cabrera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manuel Cristos. Cristos takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Cabrera darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Cristos tries for a takedown but Cabrera sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cabrera works the jab nicely. Cristos dives in for a single leg takedown but Cabrera sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Cristos is trying desperately to land a takedown but Cabrera is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Cristos. Cabrera connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Cristos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cabrera scores with a jab. Cristos acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! No luck with that takedown attempt from Cristos. Cabrera lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cristos backs up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cabrera looking to score a takedown here. Cristos is defending well but Cabrera drives through and ends up in Cristos's guard. Cabrera trying to control the position from guard on top but Cristos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cabrera advances position into side control! Cabrera working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Cabrera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cristos, who protects the arm well. Cabrera is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cristos has escaped the position, nice work there. Cabrera is looking to take a break and control but Cristos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cristos is looking to regain half guard here but Cabrera keeps moving and retains side control. Cabrera is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cristos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Cristos is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Cabrera advances to full mount.

Cabrera is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cristos to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cristos shrugs it off. Cabrera looking to control but Cristos is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Cabrera misses with a head shot. Cristos really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Cristos defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cabrera. Cabrera won't let Cristos get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Cabrera trying to control but Cristos is having none of it. Cabrera tries to push Cristos's head away but Cristos is holding on tight. Cabrera working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Cristos looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Cabrera! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Herve Cabrera! A less than humble Herve Cabrera misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
