PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franky Page (ranked 797 p4p, 801 weight class) and Sol Kwon (ranked 106 p4p, 107 weight class). Kwon has chosen Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water as his entrance music. Sol Kwon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 20 - 1, fighting out of London, Franky Page!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sol Kwon!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Page lands a head shot.
Page instigates a clinch.
Page is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kwon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kwon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kwon scores with a nice head shot.
Franky Page seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kwon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Page.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kwon! But no joy.
Page tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kwon was well out of range. Poor timing from Page.

Kwon's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Page connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kwon scrambles back to his feet.

Page shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kwon as he jumps to the side.

Page drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kwon pulls his leg out and moves away.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kwon, as that shot connected.

Page goes for a double leg but Kwon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kwon continues to drive forward.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
