Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kerr (ranked 221 p4p, 200 weight class) and Sunray Spike (ranked 35 p4p, 32 weight class). Spike comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For Heavy Metal we will die! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mark Kerr had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 31 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 29 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sunray Spike! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kerr scores with a nice strike. Kerr gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Spike. Kerr swings widly with a right hand
and Spike counters with a two punch combo. We've been hearing reports that Kerr has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Kerr lands a jab-cross combination. Kerr waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Spike. Spike walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Kerr swings and misses with a shot to the body letting Spike counter with a right hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kerr blocks a head kick by Spike.
A left lands for Kerr. Spike swats away the attempt to clinch by Kerr. Spike looks to score with a jab to the body but Kerr is just out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kerr tries to clinch but Spike moves away and Spike counters with a stiff right hand. Spike stuffs the takedown. A jab from Spike finds it's way through Kerr's defenses. Spike lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Kerr scores with a punch to the head. Spike looks to land a right hand but Kerr moved out of range. Spike throws a shot from downtown. Kerr moves away and avoids it. Kerr moves forwards but Spike connects with a nice, crisp jab. Kerr connects with a nice looking jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters circling - Spike throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Kerr drops down looking for a counter takedown but Spike sprawls and moves away. Kerr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spike moves away. Spike tried to score with a low kick but Kerr checks it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kerr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Spike.
Spike cracks Kerr with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. A cross from Spike lands. Kerr throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Spike sees it coming and avoids it easily. Kerr fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Spike, pushing him back against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Spike.

Kerr walks into a straight right hand from Spike. Spike might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A jab lands there for Spike. Kerr misses with a hook
and Spike counters with a stiff right hand. Jab, jab by Kerr - just one landing. Kerr avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A little feinted left hand from Kerr on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Spike bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Sunray Spike seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kerr connects with a body shot. Spike throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kerr ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A right-left combo lands from Kerr. Kerr throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Spike tries a quick counter leg kick but Kerr is wise to it. Spike is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spike uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kerr. Spike throws the left hand but Kerr avoids the punch easily. Kerr throws a big counter combination but Spike scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spike slips under a jab from Kerr. Kerr takes a body punch but keeps moving. Spike feints and then cracks Kerr's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kerr down. Spike misses with a wild combination.
A low kick from Spike is predictable there and Kerr counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Kerr connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Sunray Spike will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Kerr fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Spike sprawls well initially but Kerr persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Spike is staying active underneath Kerr, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Spike wants to get back to full guard. Kerr thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Spike's head. Spike desperately trying to maintain half guard. Kerr is looking to take a break and control but Spike is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kerr tries to pass the half guard into mount. Spike knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kerr throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kerr looks to land a strike but Spike avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Spike keeping moving, preventing Kerr from controlling successfully. Spike lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Kerr wants to sweep but no luck. Kerr has Spike pulled in close to control his posture. Spike is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kerr wants to sweep here but Spike controlling him for the moment. Spike trying to control but Kerr is working from the bottom. Kerr tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Kerr gets cracked there but stands up to it.

and Spike counters with a straight right hand. Spike lands with a hook. Kerr tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Kerr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kerr tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. It seemed like Spike was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Spike looks to score with a jab to the body but Kerr is just out of range. Kerr is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Spike throws a body shot but no joy. Kerr swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Sunray Spike seems to be getting the better of the standup. Spike scores with a jab. Spike throws a body punch but Kerr moves out of range. Spike misses with a head kick.
As Spike looks to move away, Kerr throws a big counter combo but Spike just gets out of the way. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Spike changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Sunray Spike showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round! Spike lunges at Kerr with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kerr's hand. Kerr lands with a cross. Kerr throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Spike sees it coming and avoids it easily. Spike has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kerr finds it's way round the side to connect with Spike's head. Kerr slips a straight right by Spike. A big left from Kerr misses. A little jabbing left from Spike on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Spike throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kerr. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kerr blocks a jab. Kerr swings for the body but Spike moves out of range.

Nice sprawl there from Spike as Kerr shoots in. Spike connects with a jab. Spike with a hook. Sunray Spike is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Spike connects with the punch. Spike displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kerr throws out the jab. Spike missing with a left hand there. Kerr was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kerr was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Spike falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kerr counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Spike thinking. Mark Kerr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Spike has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Kerr looks to clinch and Spike counters with a straight right hand. Spike looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
This has been an exciting period of action! Kerr swings for the body but Spike moves out of range.
Kerr throws a looping overhand right but Spike ducks down to avoid it. Kerr goes for a double leg but Spike avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Spike continues to drive forward. Spike working hard to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kerr tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Spike's elbow. Spike wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kerr lands a shot to the body. Kerr throws a head punch that misses. Kerr lands with a light punch inside. Kerr lands a body shot in the clinch.
Spike takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kerr struggles to land a body shot inside as Spike controls his hands.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kerr creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Kerr throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Spikes head. Spike's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Kerr lands an uppercut. Kerr misses with a punch to the body.
Kerr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Spike is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Kerr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kerr misses with the head strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kerr misses with an uppercut. Spike saw that one coming. Kerr misses the body punch and Kerr takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Spike scores with a nice right hand.
Kerr throws a series of punches but Spike moves out of range. Kerr looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Spike! Spike manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Spike is not content to let Kerr control the position. Spike wants to improve his position but Kerr is controlling well.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Kerr showed his dominance in that final round. I think Spike has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Sunray Spike! A less than humble Sunray Spike misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
