Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Patrick River (ranked 661 p4p, 638 weight class) and Donald Trumpet (ranked 101 p4p, 95 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think River might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Pantera - Walk. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick River! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donald Trumpet! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! River blocks the body kick.
Trumpet avoids the body shot from River.
River drops his hands momentarily and Trumpet takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. River has closed the distance and engaged Trumpet in a clinch.
River pushes Trumpet back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Trumpet is trying to push River away but River has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. The referee calls for Trumpet to work.
River lands a body shot in the clinch.
River tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Trumpet lands with a left to the head. River has Trumpet pushed against the cage. River misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trumpet prevents a body shot from River. Trumpet looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. River has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Trumpet lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Trumpet lands a shoulder strike. River pressing his opponent against the cage. We've been informed that Trumpet has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Trumpet blocks a punch to the side of the head.
River doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Trumpet is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by River. River tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Trumpet slows down the pace here.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Trumpet creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. River pulls Trumpet into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Trumpet controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trumpet with a flurry of punches that miss. River throws his legs up looking for a submission but Trumpet uses it to pass to side control.
Trumpet decides to stand up, so the ref orders River to his feet. River lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. A jab from Trumpet does it's job there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Trumpet looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
River throws a leg kick which misses Trumpet's front leg but catches the back leg as Trumpet tries to avoid it. River wants to clinch. River throws a right and a left that Trumpet avoids nicely. River misses with a shot to the body and Trumpet counters with a right hand to the body. Trumpet pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. River shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than River was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's three minutes gone in the round. River landing strikes. Trumpet bucks up and tries to throw River off but instead River has got his back! Trumpet is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it. River shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Trumpet's guard. River postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. River trying to control but Trumpet is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Trumpet bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in River's guard.

Trumpet trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Trumpet wants to control from the top but River keeps moving. Trumpet tries to stand but River is controlling from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Donald Trumpet will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. River throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Patrick River seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. River bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Trumpet's head backwards. River misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. River thuds his right hand into Trumpet's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. River throws a low kick, looking for Trumpet's leg but Trumpet calmly moves out of range. River throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. River swings for the body but Trumpet moves out of range.
River looks for the body kick but Trumpet saw that one coming. River darts in and clinches Trumpet up against the cage. River tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Trumpet's elbow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Both fighters working to control the clinch. River goes for a takedown attempt but Trumpet pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's one minute gone in the round. Trumpet checks a low kick from River. River throws a combination that misses and Trumpet counters with a right hand to the body. River sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Nice straight punches there by Trumpet. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Trumpet.
It looks like Patrick River has been cut. Nice body punch from Trumpet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Trumpet misses with a body shot.
River connects with a single shot there. Trumpet connects with a body shot. Trumpet lands a really nice looking cross but River seems unphased.
Trumpet dips down and scores with a jab to the body. River misses with the combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A clash of legs there as River blocks the low kick. Trumpet attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. River takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. A head kick misses from Trumpet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trumpet misses with a body kick. Trumpet stuffs the takedown attempt from River. River gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick River. That's going to take a lot out of him. Trumpet lands a lovely overhand right. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! River crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Trumpet - the referee stops the clock and River gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Trumpet. River manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Trumpet fakes high and swings low for a body shot but River manages to avoid it. Donald Trumpet is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. River throws a lazy uppercut
and Trumpet connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. River digs a good body shot into Trumpet's ribs. River feints and then cracks Trumpet's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Trumpet down. Trumpet ducks under a wild hook from River. River takes one on the button. River scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Donald Trumpet has got the better of the ground game so far. Trumpet tries to bench press River off him but River keeps the position. Trumpet seems a little lost for a moment, as River dominates the positioning. Trumpet has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. River working the ground and pound. River is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Trumpet knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Trumpet wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Trumpet takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. River lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Trumpet down.
River working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Trumpet manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Trumpet stands up out of the half guard. River throws a body shot but no joy. Horrible takedown attempt by River or perhaps it was just good defense by Trumpet, which made it look bad. Trumpet throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Donald Trumpet showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Patrick River's cut. That's time! River's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Nice body punch from Trumpet. Trumpet looks to land a right hand but River moved out of range. Trumpet moves into range and connects with a jab. River is looking to wear down Trumpet with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. River lands a jab. Trumpet throws the kick towards the body but River avoids it. River misses with a head kick.

Trumpet throws a leg kick that misses. Trumpet thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on River if he has to take too many more of those.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Trumpet moves out of range as River strikes. A low kick lands for Trumpet.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Trumpet checks a leg kick. Trumpet's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. River throws a body shot but no joy. Trumpet steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Jab from Trumpet. Trumpet lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Trumpet fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Trumpet. River jabs Trumpet right on the nose. Trumpet blinks but takes it well. Trumpet takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. River throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Donald Trumpet is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. River tries to land a leg kick but Trumpet saw it coming and moves away.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Donald Trumpet. I've got Trumpet winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
