Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Malachi Lawrence!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Meldrick Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lawrence moves away.
Lawrence tries to clinch but Taylor is having none of it.
Lawrence misses with a double jab
and Taylor counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Malachi Lawrence has been cut.
Lawrence has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Ludus Magnus in the buildup to the fight.
Lawrence just misses with a punch to the body.
Lawrence throws an overhand right that lands on Taylor's shoulder, as Taylor tries to avoid the shot.
Taylor misses with an uppercut.
Taylor jabs at Lawrence's body.
Lawrence rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Taylor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lawrence closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Lawrence lands a nice hook to Taylor's body. Taylor takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Taylor fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lawrence manages to avoid it.
Lawrence half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Taylor throws a leg kick but Lawrence moved away.

Taylor takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Lawrence's jab looks to have found its range, popping Taylor under the eye.

Lawrence tries to close the distance and clinch but Taylor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lawrence just misses with a punch to the body.
A nice side step and Taylor releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Lawrence closes the distance and pushes Taylor back into the cage.
Taylor's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters circling - Lawrence throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lawrence misses with an uppercut. Taylor saw that one coming.
Lawrence tries to clinch but Taylor moves out of range.
Taylor takes one on the button.
Lawrence throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Meldrick Taylor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lawrence drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lawrence wants to pass the guard but Taylor is keeping the position.
Taylor has control of Lawrence's left arm, preventing Lawrence from doing any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Meldrick Taylor will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Malachi Lawrence's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!
Lawrence tries to close the distance and clinch but Taylor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Malachi Lawrence is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lawrence misses with a looping right.
Taylor wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Lawrence lands a nice shot that snaps Taylor's head back.
Taylor stuns Lawrence with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Lawrence scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Lawrence wants to lay and pray for a moment but Taylor keeps working.
Lawrence thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Taylor felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Taylor wants to control but Lawrence postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Taylor might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lawrence haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Lawrence throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lawrence tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Taylor is not content to let Lawrence control the position.
Lawrence is working to tighten his grip on Taylor's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Taylor has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Lawrence is really squeezing tight and eventually Taylor passes out! Lawrence breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
