Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Temujin Khan (ranked 2227 p4p, 2948 weight class) and Andre Mahesa (ranked 108 p4p, 134 weight class). Mahesa has chosen You're Going Down as his entrance music. Andre Mahesa will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Temujin Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andre Mahesa!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mahesa moves into the clinch.
Khan wants to take the fight to the mat but Mahesa manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Khan blocks an uppercut.
Khan trying to stall but Mahesa improves his position.
Khan prevents a body shot from Mahesa.
Khan jumps guard but Mahesa turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Mahesa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Khan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Khan wants to stall.
Khan is trying to drag Mahesa to the mat but Mahesa just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Temujin Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mahesa lands a shot to the body.

Khan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Khan tries to pull guard but Mahesa holds him up against the cage and eventually Khan drops back down to his feet.

Mahesa looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Khan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mahesa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Khan's head.

Khan is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Qube MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Khan is not content to let Mahesa control the position.
Mahesa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Mahesa wants to work for an arm triangle but Khan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Khan is trying to stand.
Mahesa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Khan moves into full guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Mahesa dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Khan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Khan lands in his opponent's guard.

Mahesa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Khan is aware though and is defending well.

Khan is posturing up here but Mahesa has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Khan tries to roll out but it's too tight and Khan has to tap! Slick submission there by Mahesa!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Andre Mahesa!
During a confident post fight interview, Andre Mahesa thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
