Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heavy Rain (ranked 165 p4p, 710 weight class) and Thierry Paulin (ranked 31 p4p, 89 weight class). Rain's entrance music is For Heavy Metal we will die!. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thierry Paulin!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rain lands with a nice body punch.
Paulin misses with a head kick.
Rain jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Rain misses with a body shot.
Paulin now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Rain lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

It looks like Thierry Paulin has been cut.
Paulin looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Rain wants to land a leg kick but Paulin is out of range.
Paulin checks the leg kick.
Rain lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Paulin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Paulin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rain manages to avoid it.
Paulin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rain looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Paulin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A decent looking cross lands there for Rain.

Thierry Paulin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looked like Rain was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and Rain counters with a stiff right hand.
Rain lands a nice shot that snaps Paulin's head back.
Rain is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Paulin shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Rain is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Paulin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rain throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Paulin on the side of the head.

That has opened up Thierry Paulin's cut even more.

Paulin loads up on a big right hand but Rain slips the punch.
Rain connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rain is looking to land body kicks.
Rain really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rain thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Paulin if he has to take too many more of those.
Rain throws a body shot but no joy.
Paulin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rain lands a nice shot that snaps Paulin's head back.
Paulin misses with a straight right.
Paulin throws a low kick, looking for Rain's leg but Rain calmly moves out of range.
Rain bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Paulin moves out of range as Rain strikes.
The fighters circling - Rain throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Paulin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rain throws a big counter combination but Paulin scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Rain counters with a left and a right that stings Paulin.
A bone on bone clash there as Rain blocks the leg kick.
Rain fires out a quick counter leg kick but Paulin just manages to avoid it.
Jab, jab by Rain - just one landing.

and Rain counters with a crisp right hand that drops Paulin! Rain lets Paulin back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Paulin is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Paulin misses with a jab to the body
and Rain counters with a low kick, right behind Paulin 's knee.
Paulin is still on wobbly legs! Can Rain finish him?
Rain is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Paulin can do to turn this around?
Rain misses with a series of wild punches.
Paulin is breathing heavily.
Some bone on bone action there as Paulin checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Paulin seems to have recovered his senses.
Rain throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Paulin sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rain lands a big head kick that sends Paulin tumbling to the mat! Rain takes a step backwards and waves Paulin back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Rain seems to be stalking Paulin here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastating head kick! Paulin drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Heavy Rain!
A less than humble Heavy Rain misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
