Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rex Gunn (ranked 66 p4p, 382 weight class) and Chan Siam (ranked 9 p4p, 43 weight class). Rex Gunn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chan Siam!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Siam lands with a shot to the body.
Siam tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gunn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gunn swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Gunn scores with a decent looking hook.

It looks like Chan Siam has been cut.

Siam moves into range and clinches up with Gunn.
Siam tries for a takedown but Gunn manages to get underhooks.

Siam has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gunn uses from the top position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gunn is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Siam gets his way!

Gunn is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Siam with shots to the head and body - Gunn looks very uncomfortable down there.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Siam working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gunn is looking for a sweep. Siam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chan Siam dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Chan Siam's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A telegraphed right hand from Siam misses the target.

Gunn gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Siam to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Siam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gunn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Siam postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Siam postures up in Gunn's guard and throws a big left but Gunn blocks it.
Siam won't allow Gunn to sweep him here.

Gunn looking for a guillotine here but Siam defends easily.
Siam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gunn is keeping the position for now.
Siam has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Siam is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Siam controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Gunn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Siam doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gunn is tightening it up a little... Siam has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Siam reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Siam taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gunn!
