Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin McGuire (ranked 298 p4p, 619 weight class) and Jeronimo Puno (ranked 45 p4p, 81 weight class). McGuire comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down. Puno has chosen RAGS 2 RICHES as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeronimo Puno!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Chris Dean and Francis DeMontford.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire wants to clinch up but Puno keeps it at a distance.
McGuire has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That kick from Puno tenderised McGuire's leg. McGuire is trying to keep his angry face on.

McGuire shoots in and bounces Puno off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McGuire is on top in guard.

McGuire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Puno swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McGuire seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Puno does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGuire is pressing down on Puno's thigh, looking to free his foot. Puno is holding on for now.
Puno is refusing to be controlled, as McGuire sits in half guard.

Puno makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Puno.
Puno is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McGuire chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Puno can pounce on him.

Puno replies with a solid counter kick to the body but McGuire blocks it well.

Puno takes a swing at McGuire's ribcage but misses.

McGuire takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Puno throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Puno lands a nice looking body shot.
Puno blocks a leg kick.
Puno throws a hook but McGuire blocks it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts McGuire, as that shot connected.

It looks like Jeronimo Puno has been cut.

McGuire ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Puno moves away.
Crunch! Puno slams his shin into McGuire's torso.
A low kick lands for Puno.
Nice body kick there by McGuire.
Jeronimo Puno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGuire misses with a kick to the body.
Puno appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
McGuire takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
McGuire shoots for a takedown but Puno saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McGuire pivots, looking for a leg kick but Puno is out of range and McGuire settles back down.

Puno moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGuire throws an overhand right that lands on Puno's shoulder, as Puno tries to avoid the shot.
Puno is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McGuire.
McGuire drops his hands momentarily and Puno takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
McGuire lands a glancing blow to the side of Puno's head.
Puno stuns McGuire with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

and Puno counters with a stiff right hand.
Puno slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Puno throws the kick towards the body but McGuire avoids it.

Puno tries to land a front kick but McGuire steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

McGuire is looking to chop away at Puno's legs.
Puno moves out of range of the strikes.
The fighters circle momentarily. McGuire darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
McGuire tries a low kick but Puno avoids it.
Puno moves out of range of the body kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Puno.
Jeronimo Puno is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Puno throws a leg kick which misses McGuire's front leg but catches the back leg as McGuire tries to avoid it.
Puno fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McGuire manages to avoid it.
A big right followed by a crushing left from McGuire knocks Puno out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
