PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Bomba (ranked 2999 p4p, 2533 weight class) and Johan Joestar (ranked 119 p4p, 101 weight class). Bomba comes to the cage accompanied by Guns Are Drawn. Joestar has chosen Coda - Bloody Stream as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Chuck Bomba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johan Joestar!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joestar scores with a nice head shot.
Bomba lands a nice looking body shot.
Bomba throws a lazy right hand but Joestar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bomba scores with a jab to the head.

It looks like Johan Joestar has been cut.
Bomba uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Joestar.
Bomba has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Dr Hatsumi's Clinic in the buildup to the fight.
The crowd cheers as Bomba lands an impressive looking overhand right. Joestar doesn't seem phased though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bomba lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Joestar uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bomba.
Joestar is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Joestar is trying to push Bomba away but Bomba has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Joestar manages to break the clinch.
Joestar bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bomba pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Joestar throws a big shot that misses.
Bomba throws a low kick but Joestar moves out of range easily.
Joestar stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bomba.
Joestar throws a jab when Bomba was well out of range.
Bomba thinks about countering with a body kick.
Joestar lands with an overhand left.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bomba is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Joestar.

Joestar throws a head kick but Bomba moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Bomba on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Joestar might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Bomba avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bomba pushes Joestar away with a front kick.
Joestar throws out a loose jab but Bomba uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Bomba counters with a stiff right hand.
Joestar bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

It looked like Bomba wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johan Joestar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bomba lands with a thumping leg kick.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chuck Bomba will probably get the nod.

Bomba throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Joestar on the side of the head.
Nice defenses there by Bomba.

Johan Joestar seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Joestar scores with a jab. Bomba acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joestar takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

and Bomba counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bomba connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Bomba takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Joestar throws a hook but Bomba avoids it easily.

and Bomba cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bomba fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Joestar.
Joestar swings for the body but Bomba moves out of range.
No joy there for Joestar, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bomba throws a hook to the side of Joestar's head but Joestar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Bomba counters with a body kick.
Bomba throws a nice inside leg kick.
Joestar throws a poor cross that misses
and Bomba makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Bomba scores with a kick to the body.
Joestar is breathing heavily.
Bomba fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Joestar has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Bomba counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bomba connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Joestar momentarily.

That has opened up Johan Joestar's cut even more.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bomba clobbers Joestar with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Joestar is rocked!
Joestar leaves his chin hanging out and Bomba seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Joestar crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chuck Bomba!
During a confident post fight interview, Chuck Bomba thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
