Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Gemechu McKraken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Grandis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from McKraken does no damage.
McKraken just misses with a punch to the body.
McKraken throws a nice looking combination but Grandis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
McKraken throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Grandis needs to keep his hands up - McKraken had a free shot at his head there.
McKraken bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
McKraken scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Grandis takes one to the chin there.
McKraken swings for the body but Grandis moves out of range.
McKraken rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Grandis counters with a nice uppercut.
Grandis throws a body punch but McKraken moves out of range.

McKraken feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Grandiss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Grandis takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grandis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McKraken.
McKraken checks a leg kick.
McKraken connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Grandis momentarily.
McKraken shoots in for a takedown but Grandis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Grandis throws a jab when McKraken was well out of range.
McKraken swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Grandis! But no joy.
McKraken throws a series of punches but Grandis avoids them all with ease.
McKraken shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Grandis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Grandis changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
McKraken throws a big shot that misses.
Donk. McKraken catches Grandis right on the button with a cross.
McKraken with a hook.

McKraken doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Grandis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gemechu McKraken. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McKraken swings widly with a right hand
and Grandis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Grandis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McKraken.
McKraken has been working on his balance at McGrady FT, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Grandis.
McKraken is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
McKraken connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Grandis momentarily.
McKraken feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Grandiss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Grandis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
McKraken tries to counter with a takedown but Grandis is quick to defend against it.
McKraken shoots in for a takedown but Grandis shows good takedown defense.
Grandis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McKraken.
Grandis throws a hook but McKraken avoids it easily.
McKraken uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Grandis.

McKraken lands a glancing blow to the side of Grandis's head.
McKraken steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Grandis.
Grandis drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

McKraken is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Grandis's half guard.
McKraken prevents Grandis from improving his position.
Grandis is still trying to improve position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McKraken lands a nice short elbow.
McKraken landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Grandis is trying to stand up here but McKraken is controlling him well.
McKraken lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

McKraken in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Grandis tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from McKraken!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Gemechu McKraken!
In his post fight interview, Gemechu McKraken started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
