PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Norman Pearson (ranked 1235 p4p, 1925 weight class) and Beau Canada (ranked 54 p4p, 55 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Norman Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Beau Canada!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canada is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pearson.
Pearson slips under a jab.

Canada manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pearson on his heels. He'll look to pass Pearson's guard now, I'm sure.
Pearson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Pearson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Canada throws a right and a left that Pearson avoids nicely.
Canada ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pearson moves away.
It looked like Pearson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and Pearson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Canada has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Pearson is trying to keep an underhook but Canada manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pearson wants to stand and escape but Canada is having none of it.

Pearson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Beau Canada is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Canada lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pearson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pearson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Pearson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Pearson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Canada tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

I would just about give that final round to Beau Canada.
Well Canada has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
