PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eldar Fudd (ranked 2593 p4p, 2762 weight class) and Ivan Kalcevski (ranked 334 p4p, 362 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eldar Fudd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivan Kalcevski!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalcevski scores with a body shot.
No luck for Fudd with that takedown attempt.
Fudd tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kalcevski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fudd somewhat.
A cross from Kalcevski lands.
A slow jab from Kalcevski misses its intended target.
Kalcevski bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Fudd's head backwards.
Kalcevski lands with a good body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalcevski throws a lazy uppercut

and Fudd counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fudd.
Fudd has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Kalcevski has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kalcevski is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fudd with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kalcevski utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fudd loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Fudd trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fudd throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kalcevski works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fudd throws an elbow that misses. Kalcevski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fudd's guard. Nice move by Kalcevski!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kalcevski won't allow Fudd to sweep him here.
My spies in Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts inform me that Kalcevski has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Fudd has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Fudd is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fudd thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kalcevski's head.
Kalcevski is refusing to be controlled, as Fudd sits in half guard.
Kalcevski keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Fudd not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Fudd trying to mount his opponent but Kalcevski defends it.

Fudd throws a big right hand that misses.
Fudd wants to control from the top but Kalcevski keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fudd trying to control the position from guard on top but Kalcevski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fudd accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fudd is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fudd wants to pass the guard but Kalcevski is keeping the position.
Kalcevski working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fudd.
Kalcevski avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fudd trying to control but Kalcevski is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kalcevski bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ivan Kalcevski will probably get the nod.
That's time! Fudd's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kalcevski uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Fudd has time to react.
Kalcevski loads up on a big right hand but Fudd slips the punch.
Fudd half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Fudd goes for a double leg but Kalcevski avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Kalcevski continues to drive forward.
Fudd is looking to take this one to the mat.
Kalcevski gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Fudd.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eldar Fudd. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kalcevski breaks from the clinch.
Fudd fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kalcevski manages to avoid it.
Ivan Kalcevski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fudd displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kalcevski throws out the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kalcevski throws a looping overhand right but Fudd ducks down to avoid it.

Kalcevski feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Fudd sprawling to the canvas! Fudd rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kalcevski finish him?!

Fudd is rocked!

It looks like Eldar Fudd has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kalcevski walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Fudd drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Kalcevski swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Fudd's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ivan Kalcevski!
An out of breath and clearly excited Ivan Kalcevski thanked Brooklyn Apothecary for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
