PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shape Shifter (ranked 2359 p4p, 2566 weight class) and Hector Gonzalez (ranked 294 p4p, 319 weight class). Hector Gonzalez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hector Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Gonzalez clinches up with Shifter and pushes him back against the cage.
Shifter is looking to take this one to the mat.
Shifter drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gonzalez lands an elbow inside.

It looks like Shape Shifter has been cut.
Shifter tries to pull guard but Gonzalez holds him up against the cage and eventually Shifter drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shape Shifter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shifter wants a takedown but no success here.
Gonzalez digs a right hand into Shifter's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Shifter's gas tank.
Gonzalez lands an elbow just above Shifter 's eye.
Shifter can't get the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonzalez lands a right hand that snaps the head of Shifter backwards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shifter is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gonzalez to keep the fight standing.
Gonzalez lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Shifter is rocked!

Shifter takes a shot to the head.
Oh Shifter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shifter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gonzalez smiles and moves away.
Gonzalez closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Shifter out cold! Shifter corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Hector Gonzalez was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
