The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veidt misses with a body shot.
Veidt has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Sershurrapal's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Veidt connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sershurrapal scrambles back to his feet.
Veidt throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sershurrapal seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

I was talking to Sershurrapal's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Sershurrapal jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Veidt walks away with a smile on his face. Sershurrapal gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Veidt throws out a loose jab but Sershurrapal uses good head movement to avoid it.
Veidt rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sershurrapal connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Veidt throws the left hand but Sershurrapal avoids the punch easily.

and Sershurrapal counters with a big right hand! Oh Veidt is in trouble here! Sershurrapal follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
