Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Bird (ranked 515 p4p, 598 weight class) and Slugger Dunes (ranked 70 p4p, 79 weight class). Dunes has chosen The World's Greatest as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Bird! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Slugger Dunes! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed right hand from Dunes misses the target. Dunes throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bird's head. Bird has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Bird tries for a takedown but Dunes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Bird misses the shot to the body. Bird uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dunes. Bird attempts a counter takedown but Dunes avoids it well and moves away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bird fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dunes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Dunes misses with an uppercut. Bird saw that one coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunes connects with a body shot that sends Bird's belly button to the back. Dunes drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Dunes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Bird attempts a counter takedown but Dunes avoids it well and moves away. Bird lands a nice shot to the body.

Dunes explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Dunes loads up on a big right hand but Bird slips the punch. Bird drops down looking for a counter takedown but Dunes sprawls and moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dunes dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Bird throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dunes was covering up waiting for the punch and Bird finishes the takedown easily into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bird not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Bird prevents Dunes from getting back to his feet. Bird passes easily into side control. Nice work. Dunes bucks up and tries to throw Bird off but instead Bird has got his back! Dunes trying to get back to his feet but Bird is in full control for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bird controls the position. Dunes is trying to get back to his feet but Bird has full control of the position and if anything, Dunes has just worked his way into a worse spot. Dunes is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Dunes is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Bird off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Bird is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Dunes manages to stand up with Bird still on his back. Eventually Bird drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position. Dunes stuffs the takedown. Bird throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dunes. Dunes takes a swing at Bird's ribcage but misses. Bird connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Dunes paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A telegraphed right hand from Dunes misses the target. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Slugger Dunes will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Bird catches Dunes with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Bird. Bird moves in looking to clinch but Dunes pushes him off. Dunes counters with a body kick. Dunes throws a looping overhand right but Bird ducks down to avoid it. Dunes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bird. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dunes swings away with a body shot that misses
and Bird counters with a takedown into side control. Bird wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dunes keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. A lull in the action here. Dunes pushes Bird away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bird gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Dunes tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Dunes wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Bird looking to control but Dunes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Dunes is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Bird working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dunes tries to buck Bird off but he can't manage it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dunes prevents Bird from taking his back. Bird is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dunes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dunes shrugs it off. Bird seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Dunes is holding on tight.
Dunes is trying to stand. Bird tries to control but Dunes wriggling away. Bird has hold of Dunes's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dunes manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's three minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Dunes really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Dunes wants to get back to his feet but in bucking up he's left an arm hanging out! Bird has locked onto it and has pulled off a slick armbar! Dunes taps furiously! This one is all over!

After the fight, Jake Bird was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
