Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Simon (ranked 57 p4p, 182 weight class) and Prohor Georgiev (ranked 8 p4p, 25 weight class). Georgiev is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Oxxxymiron - City under the sole. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Prohor Georgiev enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Prohor Georgiev!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Simon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Simon's corner calls for a 1-2. Simon obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Georgiev throws a good cross that connects.
Georgiev scoring well with a low kick there.
Georgiev cracks Simon with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Simon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Simon misses with a short punch on the inside.
Georgiev goes for a takedown attempt but Simon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Simon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Simon has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Georgiev manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Jay Simon will probably get the nod.

Georgiev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Simon defends well and Georgiev ends up having to push Simon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Simon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Georgiev is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Simon.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jay Simon.
