PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darsin Bleak (ranked 278 p4p, 578 weight class) and Trane Knox (ranked 35 p4p, 72 weight class). Knox has chosen Blue World | John Coltrane as his entrance music. Darsin Bleak could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Trane Knox's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darsin Bleak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trane Knox!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bleak is trying hard to land a takedown here. Knox sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bleak swings for the body but Knox moves out of range.
Knox ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Knox swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Bleak scores with a jab to the body.
Knox throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bleak throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Knox misses with a looping left.
Bleak throws a body punch but Knox moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Knox on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A swing and a miss from Bleak.
Bleak lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bleak is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Knox fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bleak manages to avoid it.

Knox has hold of Bleak's hands but Bleak slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Knox moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Knox wants to sweep but no luck.
Bleak lands a couple of elbows.

Bleak passes Knox's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Bleak is working Knox over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Bleak is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Knox is aware though and is defending well.

Bleak has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Knox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bleak working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Knox is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bleak scores with a couple of nice shots.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Bleak avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Knox scores with a jab. Bleak acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Knox lands a nice shot to the body.
Bleak slips a jab and a cross from Knox.
Bleak throws the left hand but Knox avoids the punch easily.
Knox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bleak tries to counter with a takedown but Knox is quick to defend against it.

Bleak shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Knox as he jumps to the side.
Bleak fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Knox looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Knox has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bleak is working away from the top position though.
Bleak wants to pass to mount but Knox is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Knox wants to get back to full guard.

Bleak lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bleak trying to control the pace.

Bleak is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Knox has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bleak is just content to waste time from the top position. Knox takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Darsin Bleak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bleak escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Knox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bleak looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Knox has picked Bleak up and slammed him! Bleak can't keep hold of the triangle and Knox manages to pass to side control!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Darsin Bleak will probably get the nod.
That's time! Bleak's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Knox throws a body punch but Bleak moves out of range.

Bleak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Knox circles away.
Knox displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bleak throws out the jab.
Knox looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Bleak shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Knox is trying to defend but Bleak finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Bleak cracks Knox with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Knox is still in real trouble! Can Bleak finish him?
Bleak has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Knox is desperately trying to improve his position but Bleak has a good base and remains in mount.
Bleak is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Knox can do to turn this around?
The referee warns Knox that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bleak drops a big elbow. That's hurt Knox! More shots from Bleak and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Our winner, Darsin Bleak, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
