Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gil Jacobson (ranked 1352 p4p, 2191 weight class) and John Starman (ranked 177 p4p, 287 weight class). Starman has chosen David Bowie - Starman as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gil Jacobson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Starman!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobson missing with a left hand there. Starman was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jacobson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Jacobson misses with a hook. Starman ducked under it nicely.

and Starman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

We've been told by Jacobson's head coaches at Mary Gracies Jiu Jitsu that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

The referee asks Starman politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Starman prefers to stall for the moment though.

It looks like Gil Jacobson has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Starman unloads with some shots from mount but Jacobson bucks and avoids them well.
Starman cracks Jacobson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

BOOM! Starman connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Starman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jacobson tries to hold on but Starman pushes him away.
Jacobson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Starman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jacobson wants to control but Starman is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Starman struggles to land a body shot inside as Jacobson controls his hands.

Jacobson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Starman lands a nice looking body shot.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Starman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Starman dives in and grabs Jacobson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jacobson pushes down on Starman's head and hops out.
Starman lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Starman.

Starman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Starman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Starman takes a little break here. Jacobson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

John Starman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Starman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
