Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kerr (ranked 64 p4p, 158 weight class) and Jorge Cruz Jr (ranked 15 p4p, 27 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 25 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorge Cruz Jr!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerr swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Cruz Jr counter with a right hand.

Cruz Jr dodges the punch combination from Kerr.
Kerr misses with a series of wild punches.
Cruz Jr is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kerr closes the distance and clinches.

Cruz Jr pulls guard effortlessly.
Kerr trying to control but Cruz Jr is working from the bottom.

Kerr slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cruz Jr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kerr throws a big elbow that misses.
Cruz Jr is looking to stand up but Kerr isn't so interested in that idea.
Kerr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Cruz Jr wants to stand but Kerr is controlling the position.
Kerr wants to control from the top but Cruz Jr keeps moving.

Kerr lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Kerr throws an elbow that misses. Cruz Jr uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kerr's guard. Nice move by Cruz Jr!


Cruz Jr stands and steps away. Kerr gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mark Kerr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz Jr chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kerr can pounce on him.
Cruz Jr walks into a jab.
Kerr is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

It looks like Jorge Cruz Jr has been cut.
Kerr throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cruz Jr misses with a two punch combination.

Kerr throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kerr moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromCruz Jr.
Kerr throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cruz Jr cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cruz Jr slips a jab and a cross from Kerr.
Kerr moves out of range as Cruz Jr throws a body kick.
Kerr misses with a head kick.
Kerr throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cruz Jr.
Cruz Jr pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kerr feinted there with a counter leg kick.

Cruz Jr bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kerr moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromCruz Jr.
Kerr connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cruz Jr. Cruz Jr circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A big left from Kerr misses.
Kerr throws a front kick aimed at Cruz Jr's knee but Cruz Jr avoids it well.
Sloppy strikes from Kerr. Those never looked like landing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cruz Jr lands a big head kick that sends Kerr tumbling to the mat! Cruz Jr takes a step backwards and waves Kerr back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Mark Kerr has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A head kick misses from Cruz Jr.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Kerr will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Cruz Jr misses with a body kick.
Kerr half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Cruz Jr takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kerr steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cruz Jr.
Kerr looks for a takedown but Cruz Jr sprawls well.
Cruz Jr lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Kerr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cruz Jr looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

and Cruz Jr counters with a crisp one two that drops Kerr! Cruz Jr thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Kerr to his feet! Kerr is in big trouble!

Kerr is rocked!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Kerr shoots in and drives through. Cruz Jr sprawls well.
Despite the aggression on Cruz Jr's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Cruz Jr waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kerr.
It looked like Kerr was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Kerr wants to stay close but Cruz Jr steps back to make room for something. Kerr seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Cruz Jr and Kerr drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jorge Cruz Jr!
Jorge Cruz Jr was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
