Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexei Babinski (ranked 48 p4p, 30 weight class) and Yardbird Knox (ranked 10 p4p, 6 weight class). Babinski comes to the cage accompanied by Raining Blood - Slayer. Knox comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Now's The Time | Charlie Parker kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexei Babinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yardbird Knox!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox misses with a body shot.
Knox takes a swing at Babinski's ribcage but misses.
Knox moves forwards but Babinski connects with a nice, crisp jab.

It looks like Yardbird Knox has been cut.

It looked like Babinski wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Knox is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Babinski uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Knox.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That has opened up Yardbird Knox's cut even more.
Yardbird Knox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Knox tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Babinski was well out of range. Poor timing from Knox.
Babinski is looking to counter punch.
Babinski ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Knox lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

enabling Knox to counter with a crisp jab.
Babinski throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Knox is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Babinski with a body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Knox has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Knox there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Knox counters with a nice uppercut.

and Knox cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Knox ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Babinski moves away.

Knox is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Babinski had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Knox throws a looping overhand right but Babinski ducks down to avoid it.

Babinski throws a hook but Knox blocks it.

and Babinski cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Knox moves out of range as Babinski strikes.
Babinski doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Knox counters with a left to the body.
Knox throws an off balance right hand
and Babinski counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Babinski staying out of range there.
Babinski quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yardbird Knox dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Yardbird Knox's cut.
That's time! Babinski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Knox works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
I was talking to Babinski's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Babinski swings wildly with an uppercut but Knox uses good head movement to avoid it.

Knox drops Babinski with a big knee straight up the middle! Babinski is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Babinski is rocked!

It looks like Alexei Babinski has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Knox measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Babinski! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Yardbird Knox!
Our winner, Yardbird Knox, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
