Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heavy Rain (ranked 105 p4p, 77 weight class) and Joao Cajo Branca (ranked 20 p4p, 15 weight class). Rain kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. Branca comes into a darkened arena with his song building. original score medley kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 40 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Heavy Rain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joao Cajo Branca! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Branca fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Rain stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Branca. Branca misses with a hook. Rain ducked under it nicely. Branca digs a good hook to Rain's body.
Rain moves out of range of the strikes. Rain is looking to counter punch. Branca connects with a right hand. Rain shakes it off. Branca keeps Rain at a distance using the push kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rain slips under a jab. Rain throws a quick counter head kick but Branca was just out of range. Branca lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Rain scores with a nice head shot.
It looks like Joao Cajo Branca has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rain lands a nice shot to the body.
Branca tries a low kick but Rain avoids it. Branca connects with the punch. Branca lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Branca connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Branca connects with an inside leg kick. Branca rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rain takes one to the chin there. Some bone on bone action there as Rain checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Rain seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Branca lands with a thumping leg kick.
Branca misses with a low kick as Rain jumps back. A little feinted left hand from Rain on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Branca misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Rain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Rain displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Branca throws out the jab. Branca lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Branca stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Branca gets off balance looking for a body kick and Rain counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Rain is looking to clinch but Branca is avoiding it.
Rain moves out of range of the strikes. Rain appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Branca scores with a nice right hand.
Branca lands with a cross. Rain misses the shot to the body. Rain misses with a combination
and Branca counters with a thumping low kick. Rain really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Branca uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
It looks like Heavy Rain has been cut. Branca lands with a shot to the body. Rain takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rain throws a nice looking combination but Branca bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Joao Cajo Branca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Branca throws a looping overhand right but Rain ducks down to avoid it. Branca dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rain looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Branca lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Joao Cajo Branca dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Branca delivers a nice body kick. Branca thows a leg kick but Rain checks it enabling Rain to counter with a crisp jab. Rain takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Branca cracks Rain with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Rain looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Branca finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nice uppercut there from Rain.
That has opened up Joao Cajo Branca's cut even more. Rain takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Branca throws a head kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rain keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Branca. Rain appears to be looking for a big counter. This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Rain might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. A decent looking cross lands there for Rain. Branca scores with a hook to the body. Rain takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Rain is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Rain throws a big shot that misses. Branca lunges at Rain with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rain's hand. Rain on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Branca slips under a jab from Rain. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Branca.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Branca throws a low kick but Rain avoids it. Branca is looking to land body kicks. Branca takes a swing at Rain's ribcage but misses. Heavy Rain has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nice body kick from Branca. Good leg kick by Branca. Branca tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rain was well out of range. Poor timing from Branca. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Branca missing with a left hand there. Rain was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. As Branca looks to move away, Rain throws a big counter combo but Branca just gets out of the way.

letting Rain counter with a right hand. Joao Cajo Branca seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rain avoids the body shot from Branca.

Branca throws a leg kick but Rain moved away. Branca has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Branca takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

It seemed like Branca was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Rain misses with an uppercut. Branca saw that one coming. Branca connects with a body shot that sends Rain's belly button to the back. Rain takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Branca lands a high kick!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! Branca uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rain has time to react. Good leg kick by Branca. A slow jab from Branca misses its intended target. Branca throws a lazy uppercut
and Rain counters with a nice body shot. Branca lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Branca moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Rain needs to keep his hands up - Branca had a free shot at his head there. Branca buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Branca lands a jab. Rain is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Branca lands a brutal uppercut that launches Rain off his feet! Rain tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joao Cajo Branca! A relieved looking Joao Cajo Branca thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
