Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Alvarez (ranked 991 p4p, 788 weight class) and Paddy Mcgillicutty (ranked 132 p4p, 99 weight class). Mcgillicutty is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Armin van Buuren - Blahblahblah. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paddy Mcgillicutty!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Alvarez misses.
It seemed like Mcgillicutty was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Alvarez closes the distance and clinches.

Alvarez successfully pulls guard.

Mcgillicutty drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mcgillicutty jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mcgillicutty trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Alvarez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mcgillicutty drops back looking for a leg! Alvarez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alvarez manages to kick Mcgillicutty off! Mcgillicutty jumps back into Alvarez's guard.
Alvarez throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcgillicutty drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alvarez dives on top into guard.

Mcgillicutty is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alvarez defends well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Mcgillicutty's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alvarez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alvarez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mcgillicutty tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alvarez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mcgillicutty trying to control but Alvarez flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Mcgillicutty staying busy and making it hard for Alvarez to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcgillicutty is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Alvarez gets his way!

Alvarez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Alvarez is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Mcgillicutty is trying to break free.
Alvarez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mcgillicutty is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Alvarez gets his way!

Alvarez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mcgillicutty has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mcgillicutty manages to reverse the position and now he's in Alvarez's guard. Nice work there by Mcgillicutty.

Mcgillicutty looks to score with a jab to the body but Alvarez is just out of range.
Alvarez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mcgillicutty sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Alvarez is looking to take a break and control but Mcgillicutty is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mcgillicutty is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alvarez pulls his head out easily.

Our spies down at at The Grind inform us that Mcgillicutty has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Mcgillicutty has his foot on Alvarez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alvarez works his way back into a safe position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mcgillicutty throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Alvarez escapes and throws Mcgillicutty's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Mcgillicutty is holding Alvarez down, trying to stall.
Alvarez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Mcgillicutty!
Mcgillicutty gets back to half guard.
Mcgillicutty is staying active underneath Alvarez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mcgillicutty makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mcgillicutty.

Alvarez wants to pass the guard but Mcgillicutty is keeping the position.
Alvarez is pushing down on Mcgillicutty's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mcgillicutty is fighting to maintain full guard but Alvarez has managed to sneak the leg through.
Tyler Alvarez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Alvarez is trying to improve position by moving to mount. Mcgillicutty has hold of his neck though and manages to move into guard! All of a sudden, Alvarez is in a lot of trouble! Mcgillicutty is straining to finish and he's done it! Alvarez taps out! Amazing!

Paddy Mcgillicutty decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
