PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Herb Green (ranked 1013 p4p, 879 weight class) and Kyle Switzer (ranked 155 p4p, 133 weight class). Switzer has chosen The Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Herb Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Switzer!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Switzer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Green tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Switzer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Green throws a body shot but no joy.
Green shoots for a takedown but Switzer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Switzer's coach down at Iron Sharpens Iron was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Switzer's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Switzer jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Green looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Switzer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Green tries to clinch but Switzer moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Switzer scores with a jab to the body.
No joy there for Switzer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Green tries to counter by clinching up but Switzer breaks away and moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Green tries for a takedown but Switzer circles away easily
and Switzer counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Green misses with a looping right.
Switzer lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Switzer.
Switzer misses with a wild body shot.
Green looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Herb Green. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Green slips a jab from Switzer.
Green drops down looking for a counter takedown but Switzer sprawls and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Green gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Switzer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A punch lands to the side of Switzer 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Switzer drops his hands momentarily and Green takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Green gets a double leg takedown into Switzer's guard.
Green looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Switzer keeping full guard, as Green tries to pass.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Green throws a strike but Switzer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Green escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Switzer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Green has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Green working for a triangle but Switzer defends it easily.
Green trying to keep a closed guard but Switzer is proving a slippery customer.
Switzer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Switzer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Green is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Green wants to control the position but Switzer says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Green is looking for a sweep. Switzer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Switzer dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Green shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Green just misses with a punch to the body.
Switzer misses with an attempted mid kick.
Switzer circles away from the clinch attempt

and Switzer counters with a crisp one two that drops Green! Switzer thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Green to his feet! Green is in big trouble!

Green is rocked!
Switzer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Switzer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Oh Green is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Green takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Green throws an off balance right hand
and Switzer counters with a perfectly timed head kick, knocking Green out cold! Wow, that took some serious skill and not a little luck! Switzer is taking it in his stride though, strolling around like it's no big deal. What a guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kyle Switzer!
A less than humble Kyle Switzer misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
